I recently acquired a Pinocchio PoDM of Jiminy Cricket. After careful examination the "PIN" in Pinocchio is scuffed. I could only tell if the light hits in in a certain way. The seller has said they will refund the purchase and shipping to send back.

I had planned to keep this or my collection. I acquired it at a very fair price. I am not sure if I could ever acquire this scene again or one close to it and that price point.

My question is, Should I keep it or send it back?

The criteria is:
Does this affect the value?
If I ever sold it or traded it (I would disclose this) would a buyer or trader reject it for this flaw? ( I know this is subjective)

Any advice you can give me to sway me one way or the other would be much appreciated.

Thanks DPFers
Bob

If it took careful examination to reveal the flaw, I'd keep it based on the quality of the scene.

Will it affect value? That depends on the perceived damage. If it is difficult to see/find, then it should only affect value in a minor way. Much less than cracks, dents, missing elements, or easily visible scratches.

Would a buyer or trader reject it for that particular flaw? Difficult to say, as each trader will have a different set of criteria for what will constitute a rejection of the pin. There is no solid answer for this question.

The scene would trump a minor flaw like the one you are describing. I would keep it. If its a pretty rare scene, it wont affect the value all that much. You will not have a problem finding someone who will buy or trade for the pin. Just be up front about the scratch. Since you didn't notice it at first, it doesn't sound like a major scratch.

Personally I think the scene matters more and the appearance of the film than any of the frame when I look for PODMS. & If it were for my collection I would keep it! Often I'm more excited that I even have the pin than bothered by the scuffs and scratches xD but that's for my personal collection pins I would worry if I were going to trade it.
