A question for Shadowboxes!

So I've been working on a shadowbox display for all of my Simba and Nala pins, and well I have a question for you people who have done this before. xD The backing that came with the shadowbox is VERY thin, and if I were to poke pins through it, it'd stick out and jab at the wall. Solutions?

I got the paper and everything ready for it, just need backing solutions. xD

For some of my Haunted Mansion pins to display on a wall, I found a GREAT spoon rack at Michael's art stores and easily removed the spoon rack portions and was left with a nice sturdy black velvet wall to stick the pins into and they don't poke out the back! Oh, and I almost forgot to add the fact it has a glass & wood door that opens & closes to protect pins!

Some people use cork that they cover with fabric and glue that into the shadowbox back wall.

I use colored foam that they sell in craft stores and place it in the shadow box.

craft foam or cork covered with thin felt or fabric works great. Be sure to post pics when you are done!

Foam boards are great and very cheap

I use black foamboard.

In case you aren't familiar, foamboard is like two posterboards stuck together, but there's a layer of styrofoam in between them. They are right by the posterboards at Walmart. I cover the boards in black velvet, using hot glue. Then I stick the pins in, and I don't need pin backings.

I do not attach the board to the back of the shadowbox. I just lean it up against it. That way, I can change out the boards for different holidays, or when I'm just in a different mood.

As several people have said, colored foamboard works well and can be changed easily if you don't glue it into the shadowbox. I like foamboard better than cork because cork because sometimes pin backs get stuck in the cork and tear off the pin.
