I've made some trades recently and the package that arrived on Saturday and today, Monday, have all been fakes. TBH I do not know what to do. I am disappointed as I sent out non-fake pins and received fakes in turn. What do I do? I am 4 good pins down and have 4 awful fakes :(

Has anyone else noticed an increase in fakes?

That is why with very few exceptions, I only trade with pins that are on their original card. I have a couple that were LE250, etc that I traded for that were not on card, but no reports of scrappers, etc

I do not want to risk sending someone a fake pin

Firstly, you should insist on a trade-back. If the other trader refuses, put them on the do not trade list.
Then, if you are trading for a pin that is scrapped or counterfeited, I always ask for a picture of the front and back before the trade. I've prevented quite a few bad trades doing that. Best of luck

..can you post pictures of the front and back of the pins??

Edit:
Was the trade through pinpics TA or DPF?? I'm a bit leery of doing trades through pinpics only. I have only traded with people on DPF. Either way, I would take pictures of the pins, front and back, and send a message to the trader, pointing out the reasons that the pins are fakes, and request that the pins you had sent be returned.

I think I've gotten 2 so far since I've only been trading for about a month. If you send them a message it's most likely they probably will not message you back. Sometimes I think it's just a risk you have to take.

I had it happen for the first time earlier this year. I wasn't sure what to do either. I eventually just let it go and decided to be more careful. I should have demanded my pin back.

I've gotten pins where they have huge spots of paint and I still can't believe the sender could not have noticed them! But anywho, get your pins back!

And here's another thing: if you've checked someone's references, and they have loads of transactions listed on Dizpin's reference board going back years, wouldn't you think that person, having been in the hobby that long and doing that much trading, would be aware of scrappers?

I've got a noob question. How do you check someones references. Cause I've had someone tell me that they were going to leave a reference, what is that? And how can I see that? Haha

Oh Chloe,

you are such a dear pin-friend. I am so sorry to hear about your sad experience. If you don't mind, could you pls pm me a bit more detailed info. Is there already an alert on these pins on pinpics?

I also suggest that you ask for your pins back. Of course, sadly you will have to absorb the postage wasted. Best of luck.

Hi Alecia
The link to the Dizpins ref center is on TOP of the forum..you have to have the email addy to see them of the person you traded with
NOW here if you traded..NO email is provided unless you ask for it....thats why when I trade,I send a business card with my email,so can check refs there
I always do...

Judy
