Is anyone living near Somerset, NJ going to this tomorrow? I tried 3 times to contact these people about proxy bids and never heard back. Looks like some nice pins and some sketchey pins. Good Luck if you go.

I do not live anywhere near NJ but man I sure wish I did I looked up the auction site and couldn't believe my eyes that is more pins than I have ever seen in one place, some great pins in there, would love to know what they end up going for. That is a very impressive collection and so many of the new ones.

i will keep ya posted...i hope i win some lots and i pulled a few LE i would love to win...everyone sprinkle me with pixiedust. Oh and finally i met some really nice pin traders IN PERSON! Thanks lunarbasket! I also met Anthony--very cool and the folks from central jersey pin traders - which is where i will be friday for trade til you fade. I met some other nice folks also who are not on here. The pin collection literally was overwhelming.

Nevermind, I found it. Holy cow! I haven't even seen most of those pins before. What are your predictions for what that set will sell for? I would guess at least $20,000. Whoever bought it probably put a LOT more money than that into it. Wow.

Thanks for the link. Here is what it says in description:

See Photos for the scoop! Will be sold in lots of 30 per lot and all sets and jumbos one at a time. Can't be at the sale we will take absentee bids just email us for the details. Thanks for looking!

Special Terms: 1. We do not guarantee the authenticity of any of the pins - there may be SCRAPPERS. It is up to the bidder to know what they are bidding on.

2. Not all the Disney Auction pins have a hologram on the back.

3. Although there are numerous backer cards for the pins, they are not necessarily the original backers that were sold with the pins.

4. There are damaged pins - this includes but is not limited to: bent posts, missing posts, missing attachments/dangles/jewels, possible scratches and chips in the enamel. We will call such pins "AS IS" but it is up to the buyer to inspect the pins they wish to bid on during preview. We will not catch all the defects, but we will let you know when we see something.

5. We have boxes of pin backs, although there may not be enough for the entire collection. Pin backs will be provided for the pins you purchase until we run out.

6. Disney Auction pins are being sold individually with sets being broken up.

whoever guess 20,000???? more 150,000+ is my guess. There are 15,000 pins and framed sets etc. I am overwhellemed. keep your fingers crossed cause if dawny does well i will have many traders that you all may want comin in!!! You cant seperate lots so if there are 30+ pins in a lot and i really want a bunch of them there will be at least 1/3 that i own or dont collect. If i win nothing i am spending pin money on booze and a hotel room.

Hey, did you try to contact us via phone or email? Phone is tough because we only have a rental building for 4 days out of the month. All the emails we got were forwarded to me and there were a few people that never responded to my emails :( I apologize if we didn't get back to you - I've been setting these up as lots and answering emails and phone calls since February, my head is spinning!

Dawny it was great to see you :) we will literally be there until Friday morning selling pins haha

:wavey:

Very Intriguing...

Those going to Trade Until You Fade should know that this auction is literally on the same street as the hotel!

Too bad our family now lives on the other side of the planet right now; The New Jersey Events are THE BEST.

On the other hand, guess that just saved me a bunch of dough

Happy Trading

I heard that the proxy bids are closed, no longer taken. Best of luck to those who are there in person. May the magic be with you :)

Sort of sad for me. Except for allllllll the rack pins/vinyls, I have a majority of them in my collection, had or traded for the majority of them away and even sold most.

By looking at the lot, I can tell this person visited every Event DLR and WDW since 2007. I do not see a Theme at all, just gotta gave all the pins.

While there they bought whatever LE was at the Park at the time of visit and took all the Rack pins possible. They even traded for lanyard pins on the visit.

Assuming at the events, they then traded for oversees pins, that's where I see Paris and Japan pins.

I would be curios of final bids but throughout the entire collection, I would like only 1 pin.

Good luck to the winner(s) and sorry to the collector.

As you see on these boards, find a Theme and stay within your budget. Don't buy a lot of traders thinking you will get a trade for a grail you want NOW. You might just be able to buy the Grail?
And in todays pin world, buying 100 pins to get that one Rapunzel Reveal/Conceal pin is wishful thinking. It's ok to get into trading late, it's what keeps pin trading alive. I want to trade my older pins and a newbie wants them. That's where the magic happens. Chats, trades, meetings.

Currently, I'm in a possible three way trade. Although we all trade different, have different collections and Themes, we are working on getting something we eventually want. I can assume 1 of us has a specific theme to that is eventually close to complete and is hard to trade from and for, 1 of us is narrowing down to their specific various Themes and acquiring pins in that goal and 1 of us has a few Themes but really wants what she really likes and enjoys so that makes it her Theme and all 3 of us treat pins personally and praise what we call a Grail. Because that Grail can be worth $800 or $12.95 + tax? A Grail can have a 1/230 trade/want ratio or it can have a 35/22 ratio. A Grail to you is a Grail to you.

So who's up for trading? Or, buying/selling?

Holy smokes!

I want to know WHY they are being auctioned. Like is it part of an estate settlement or is the owner having to sell for personal reasons. Just curious. Seems like a lot of time went into them just to auction them off.

I was kind of curious about that too. There are pins from December in the lot, so it must have been a recent decision or set of circumstances that would have led them to being put up for auction.

I am getting word that the lots are going for decent prices, and some very very high prices. Sounds like our friends at LANSAM are dropping some serious cash.....curious....

I believe the proceeds are going to a family that lost a loved one. I could be wrong, but I believe this is what I was told.

I heard a bit different: An older gentleman and a long time collector who is ailing from old age and related diseases. He wanted to sell his collection and distribute the funds to the kids while he is still good.

Juicy pin gossip  I hope that the pins go to great homes though.
