So, I purchased this pin off of ebay. I can't really find anything on pinpics that matches it exactly, and the back of the pin concerns me. Thoughts?

It looks like [Pinpics]48706[/Pinpics]: DisneyShopping.com - Song of the South 60th Anniversary Set (Brer Rabbit) .

He's not Pinpics Pin# 48706 and he's not Pinpics Pin# 14971, and there are no other versions of it so my guess is, he's fake. =/ sorry!

I do remember there being one exactly like the one you posted with the only difference was it was grey not brown, but the grey one was definitely a fake pin.

Why do you say he is fake? Just because it is not on pinpics does not make it a fake pin. If the colors are nice and the paint is flat and there are no pinpics alerts and none out there in the parks for trade on lanyards and not all over ebay then it is not fake. It is a pin that is not yet on pinpics.

Honestly, this fake phobia going around is getting out of hand.

I could not agree more. I am finding myself question DPF members when they sell lots without pics.

In regards to THIS pin, I have one and it appears to be genuine. Yes, it is a 65th Ann pin from the classic SOTS never to be released again film.

Funny, they will release pins but not the DVD. Who is in favor of starting a petition on Change.org to force TWDC to re-release this piece of Disney history? Yes, it is not politically correct, but that doesn't stop me from watching Blazing Saddles.

Well, you guys have to understand that I am brand new at all of this, so I am more or less completely clueless when it comes to this sort of thing. The reason I think it might be fake is because it matches the pin on Pinpics in every way except that the colors are wrong. Compare the picture I posted with the one on Pinpics. http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=48706&sid=9502.1337326116.v3 There is now color difference around the eyes or on the cheeks. The other reason I am concerned is because the back looks like nothing I have seen before on any of my other pins. There is no pin trading stamp and it just looks odd to me.

I'd also like to point out that I got the Br'er Fox pin that was supposed to be from the same set and it has the same issue. Instead of looking like this http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=48707&sid=9502.1337326116.v3 it is just one solid color with no highlighting around the eyes or anything. On this one as well the back is weird. It doesn't match up to what is supposed to be on it according to Pinpics, and it is completely different from the back of the Br'er Rabbit pin which is supposed to be from the same set.

All I know is that I keep hearing how pretty much everything on Ebay that isn't expensive is suspect, and that the pin community is overrun with fake and scrapper pins, so when I get two pins that don't look like they are supposed to I get a little concerned, that's all.

Outside of that, Song of the South is a great movie that I love watching, even if it makes me squirm at times with how non-PC it is. :) It honestly always blew my mind that they had a whole ride themed after it, even though very few people outside of Disney nerds and fans of Uncle Remus style stories know what it is.
