Jenna, I had that exact error as well, here is what I did after I had updated and enabled Java:

it didn't seem to work properly I got error, went back into java control panel (through my system) security tab and realised I had set it to 'very high' earlier. Changed this to recommended 'high' after I closed my browser, so I reopened browser went to chat and got the prompt asking me if I wanted to run the application.

This may be a stupid question, but did you make sure Norton (or your internet options) aren't set to block pop ups? Because I also had to update Java on my computer last week and after I did that, whenever I want to get into the chat room I get a pop up asking if I want to run the program. If I click run, it opens the chat and I'm good to go. But if you have something blocking that pop up after you've updated your Java, that may be why you still can't get in.

I checked this to be sure and still a no go.

I went on the addonchat website forums looking for a solution, they provided no information. Just said that they were working on a solution... yeah.

I've sort of been stalking this thread bc I can't get chat to work either (and never have been able to). Have you guys found any (even temporary) solutions?
Thanks!

My chat worked for a few weeks, then stopped working again... dont know why/how that happened... but it's not working anymore.
