Counterfeit DSSH Cursive Cuties

Unfortunately, there are not good comparison photos of these yet. Someone tried, but the pictures were not conclusive. However, an Ebay seller known to sell counterfeits is selling three Cursive Cuties for prices too good to be true. Also, unfortunately these counterfeits are coming with cards and in plastic, so people can't use that as the first line of suspicion. The characters to watch out for:

Figaro: Potential distinguishing feature - Figaro's back, right paw is missing a toe definition line. Counterfeit - 2 toes, Authentic - 3.

Examining the listings more, these pins are being sold on cards, in plastic, but they are missing the FAC number and price sticker from the packaging which is visible on other available pins of the same design.

Oh no! I have a few of those as traders. Bought directly from DSSH of course but now people will start question them Im sure. Those are among my best traders and I have been holding on to them for grail trades. I hope this doesnt become too much of a problem but Im scared it will affect their trade value.

Unfortunately, it will probably kill the value. Same as what happened with dark tales.

I believe that some of them (mr. Mittens, the Luca ones, and possibly Baloo) were already in the lower end of cursive cuties, under $50 each before the scrappers came out.

I did. Good thinking! Hopefully there will be some easy signs to spot the fakes as well.

Like I said, the packaging is definitely different (no FAC, no price sticker), so hopefully you have the packaging.

Yes they are unopened on card in plastic still so that will also help then. Thank you!

Unfortunally that is probably the only way to get all the differences since they can use fake photos on ebay. But also you dont want to fund them selling fakes.

Yup. Kind of sucks. But then you can probably negotiate it and buy it for $5, lol

These Frozen snowflakes? Do you have comparison photos, or photos of the bad ones, or descriptions? I have a set. Bought 3 off Ebay just as the fakes came out, others came from MyDPins, but I've always been nervous about their authenticity, because I've never been clear on the tells. It would be great to have a thread for those.

Were you able to tell the difference?

On the cats, I honestly cannot tell the difference. I understand there is a layer over the cats that
is missing but I haven't been able to see it. I will take photos. I am waiting on an auction for
Toulouse that is at $5 or so to see if I can snag him for a decent price. On the snowflake, it's been
awhile since I pulled it out but it is poorer quality. I do not have an authentic pin to compare it to.

I've gotten a bit lax with my organization lately so I will have to dig to find them.
