I just completed my DLR Parade set this weekend and felt like sharing this frame I adapted from the parks a few months ago. At 14/15 I knew the final pin wouldn’t fit in this config, but now that my set’s complete I’ll probably pull these down and just make it a second KH display.
I’m also not super in love with all the empty space, but I had a vision and I executed and I’m proud of myself for that!… even though I found the final results lackluster.
I’ve put together one of these frames before (the aforementioned KH display), and for me that’s the real takeaway! The frames are from the parks and originally intended for a triple postcard display. I cut out EVA foam to make spacers, as well as a sheet of foam to “reinforce” the cardboard backing, copying its size/shape. Then I wrapped the foam with velvet, and that’s the black backing you see clearer in the second pic. It’s really hard to get the texture in photos.
