I do wish they would extend that same thing to locals as well, because if they do a flip in the morning an out-of-towner can email them right away to grab it while a local has to wait until they are free to go down, pay for gas and parking, and hope it hasn't sold out yet if it's a popular pin/an LE200. That exact thing happened after a previous event and the pin that it flipped to - for my collection - sold out before I could get there that evening after work whereas out-of-towners could secure theirs right away.

I TOTALLY understand why they do it for out-of-towners and I am glad they do it for you! But it puts us locals at a slight disadvantage to not have that same option.
So true. For me, though, unless the flip occurs later in the day, I don’t have access to my email until I return home. We don't use that particular email address unless its on a desktop computer.

They said that they would get to it when they could and sometimes they are not “at the office” but they would try their best to get the ones we want before it sold out but not a guarantee.

I just know that unless I can leave the office early when the flip occurs, I'll send an email after hours (after 5 pm) and hope they see it

It sounds like everyone had a good time on Sunday! Can someone explain how the boards work now? At the last event I went to they just had the regular boards, where you hand over a trader pin and then get like 15 seconds to pick from the board. They also had a PTD-for-PTD station. What is the LE for LE board, and how is it different from the regular boards (besides the fact that obviously you have to have an LE to trade?)

The boards were pretty much the same thing they had 6 boards total and 30 seconds to pick the pin. No PTD board and the LE board was LE for LE but that one was a hit or miss. I skipped that one.

What @fordracing31 said pretty much sums it up.

The LE for LE board replaced the PTD for PTD board. You spun a wheel, landed on a color (1 of 5 colors - red, yellow, green, blue, and orange), went left or right, depending on where the cast member told you to go, and then the lid was lifted on the board and you got 5 seconds to choose. Same as the PTD for PTD board.

Did they tell you they were doing the LE for LE board before you got there?
Yes, the regular pin boards were inside the event space and the LE for LE board was outside in the hallway. There were signs up in line that this was LE only and there was a cast member who checked your pin before you got up to the boards that was looking if it was LE. So it was made very clear if you were at a normal board or the LE game boards.

I meant did they inform you before the event that they were doing an LE for LE exchange as well as the normal boards so you would
have LEs with you to trade?

So, a few weeks after the event have now passed.

Would I do a similar event like this again (Friday night, Saturday daytime)?
If you asked me right after the event, I would have said no to the Friday night, but yes to the Saturday daytime. I would have said, we will leave the house 4 hours before the event starts to allow sufficient time to check-in and get a spot.

But now that I think about it more, I would say yes to both. I had considered staying at the Loew's just down the street, but it only ended up being $50-100 less for the night. We don't like walking Hollywood Boulevard at night so we would stay at the same hotel where the event is taking place. Both hotels only have doubles in rooms with two beds, no queen beds, boo...

Yes, I was very unhappy with what I got at Friday night's event, but I think Saturday's pulls made up for it :)

I would go again. I had fun and felt like I got a work out. I probably would not do Friday night again because of work but Saturday yes. I would though drive down the night before and stay the night because I was tired, felt loopy and it did affect my vision in the dimmed light. That six hr drive round trip killed me.

I would do it again, even if the pins are just meh. The food, free stuff and the first chance at getting new pins made up for it. If they do a Friday event again, I'd be willing to give it another shot and hope they learned from the feedback to make it better.

@starry_solo how much was it to stay at the hotel? Was that included in the cost or was there an additional charge for that? That sounds like so much fun and I'm so sad I missed out on it. Believe it or not, I've been in this hobby for almost 15 years now and never attended an official pin trading event!!!

For a two bed standard room (overlooked a building) with double beds, taxes, breakfast, and valet parking (overnight parking), it was approximately $600. Yeah, very pricey...

But I got to float (somewhat) in their pool. I got in on the wrong side and oops, was on the 10-foot side of the pool. I managed to get to the 4.5" side of the pool so I could walk a bit, lol

You mentioned in the first review on the hotel, you both heard the plumbing and creaks during the night, and thought "maybe it was the Ghosts" - seriously, if those walls could Talk....!

Yeah, a little pricey, but, a great call to stay.

I would too.

Thx for the Reports.

Yes we did.
They had a "barn door" type divider, between the bedroom and the small hallway leading to the bathroom. A little weird to have, but we never closed it since no one wanted to walk into it in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, lol.
