Hi everyone!

Did you know you can gift money to other through PayPal without either of you needing to pay a fee?

I don't know if this has been brought up before but I thought I'd mention it just in case... and save everyone some cash! So when you send through PayPal,it often goes to your default payment method, which in many cases is your debit/credit card. When you are sending funds and you get to the screen that confirms the transaction (the one before you post) you have the option of changing you payment method. You can choose an instant transfer from your bank or PayPal account, or if that's unavailable, an e-check, which usually takes a couple days to clear your account (the seller will see they've been sent a check, but it won't show in their account until it has cleared your). Either way, you pay $0 in fees on both sides!

I hope this helps anyone who may not have noticed this was available to them. Have a great day everyone!

GIFT payments through PayPal have been a rising issue here on DPF recently. I for one feel like everyone on a Disney fan site should be trust worthy so GIFT payments are fine by me... Until I get burned. Haha

I really don't see anyone getting burned. I give the "gift" option in my games to save the buyer a little cash. I also look at the people in this community as my friends so it is valid! I am NOT going to let my "reputation" on this site or anywhere else get a negative so I really do not see where there is a chance of getting burned. Most sellers are going to come through on their end if there is a problem in mailing. If you EVER find someone that is not willing to work with you a negative feedback will end their selling on the site. The other option is to not consider you all friends and increase the price of the pins/games, whatever, to absorb the fees. I am all for saving where ever I can and appreciate the "gift" option.

Actually, I am not so sure if the "gift" is still an option. When I go to send payment nowadays I see a new option where it says:

" I am sending money to family or friends" and there are no fees for that either. So, it is a grey area really.

Do we consider each other here friends? Most of the time :)

Does the transaction qualify as purchase? Yes, sure.

So, I think the choice is between the buyer & seller.

Excuse my phrasing, but ... how on earth does this work? o_O

I wanna make a transfer, and it's change a little.
It's asking me now if I wanna transfer it to family or friends (before you had to press the tab "private").

I'm sending money to family or friends

$0,14 USD
fee if you use your PayPal balance and/or a bank account.
$1,35 USD fee if you pay using your credit card.

I already deleted my credit card from my paypal account.

Wanting to do the money transfer again, I get the same message about the fees, and when I actually want to go and pay, there is no way I can pay through my bank account to pay only the 0,14 $ fees.

Can't find it in the FAQ's on paypal eather :(

Paypal charges a small fee anytime a credit card is used.

In your case, if you are sending money anywhere outisde Belgium, there will be one more fee that is called "Cross Border Fees". It is that tiny $0.14 if you use your bank account.

Hope that helps :)

Euhm, no, I don't really understand *blush*

The way I understand is, that if there is money on my paypal account (but right now there's 0 € on it, so I would have to put money on it) I would only need to pay 0,14 $ fees on the total amount I want to send.
And if I do the transfer using my credit card, I have to pay 1,35 $ fees on the total amount.

So my way of thinking is wrong then?

Sorry, I'm such a nOOb with paypal stuff :(

Sorry if I confused you in any way. You are right :)

That $0.14 is the cross-border fee when you use your Paypal balance or bank account.

The $1.35 is the cross-border fee plus the fee for the use of credit card.

Ok, so I was thinking right?

But then if I am, I can't see an option where I could choose one of those two options.

Because when I press "continue" it shows the page how much I'm going to transfer, and the only option I see is to pay the 1,35 $
(OK, it's not an amount to die for, lol, but I'm curious to know how I could get those fees to be the 0,14 $ amount and how I could have the money go directly from my bank account)

Do I need to remove my credit card from my paypal account, and just transfer money from my bank onto the paypal account?
