So my gf and I were at the release on Thursday for the LM PoDM
When we walked out to look at our scenes a nice custodian lady approached us and stared at our pins and said hi, we said hi back and asked us if we spoke Spanish to which we said yes, she asked what was the line about and we explained the whole pin collecting thing

She told us that she has been working at disney for 12 years and that she always wondered but never asked about the pin craze and she told us

"I have a box full of pins and stuff that they give use every year and every special event, but I don't know what to do with them because I know I cant sell them here because it isn't allowed. Would you guys be interested in any of it?"

Of course we were happy to say yes and we exchanged nnumbers. She called us today and we agreed to meet on Friday.

My question is tthis are there any cast exclusive pins or items that we should look for when we go see the box? She said she had a lot of opening day pins and such, so other than looking for the tangled one are there any other pins of that nature that are rare? We're barely 7 months into collecting so we don't know what pins are good from the past.

Thanks for the help

Personally I would just get anything I can. Most anything people here would want. I'm really new here also and would love to go with you if you are interested and get anything you don't want.

If you spot the fox and the hound pin in my signature in the box I would love you forever if you could get hold of it for me and I would trade it for anything, it is cast member only / a cross U pin.

You should just try and scoop up as many as possible you would probably get loads of really good traders, good luck and I hope you find some great pins with your new pin friend!

Any cast Christmas pins should be good traders. I collect Christmas, and they are hard to come by.

Just make an offer on the whole box and then flow the stuff you don't want on here. You'll get some good stuff I'm sure. All CM pins are desirable in some way or another.

Actually, since they're the pins that are given to her they probably won't be worth that much. They'll be cool to have, but Disneyland has over 20,000 cast members. Even if only a fraction of them got a specific pin (for working on Christmas, Fourth of July, etc.) there would still be thousands of that pin. Trust me, I used to work there and while I love my old CM pins and would never trade them, they're not worth all that much. The only ones that might be of value are the Spirit Awards and anniversary pins. Now, if she's been buying the LE pins from the Team Center, then there may be some very, very valuable pins there.

OMG how cool If you get any Stitch, Dumbo, castles, princesses, sorcerer Mickey, Figment, Bambi or Lion King, let me know, I'd be interested! Good luck! :bigthumb:

That doesn't mean they're easy for non-CM traders/collectors to get. A lot of CMs keep theirs (maybe in a box like this custodial CM), some don't. If they are older CM pins they may be very difficult to find. I have a friend who had an older (early 2000s) CM pin (it was given for working on the 4th of July, if I remember correctly). I had it because I happened to find it on a CM lanyard back then, but it was my friend's HG pin (she came into pin trading a few years later) and it took her quite a while to get it for her collection.

She sounds like a very nice lady. I would tell her that some of her pins *may* be worth a lot and offer her good $ for them.

I have a friend who works at Disney and doesn't want her pins. She's going to bring them into my bar to see if I want any muahaha!

hOLY CRAP buy everything!!! if its something you dont collect it will be something to trade for what you want, sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity TAKE IT,.
