Hi there, my name is Josh and I am just now starting pin trading/collecting. I watched my younger brother for the last few months collecting trading and selling pins. It looks like a lot of fun and a lot of the pins look really awesome so I thought I'd give it a shot. Not to mention I am a huge Disney/Star Wars/marvel fan and now that they're all under the same banner I feel like this could be a worthwhile collection. I've never been on a forum before so forgive me if I don't know all of the lingo or proper etiquette. Hopefully you can all help me with that, and maybe some pointers or tips. Maybe tips on how to get started buying and selling. Any information would be helpful and appreciated. :-)
 
Hi and welcome, i'm afraid i'm a newbie too so I don't have lots of tips. The only thing i'll say is if you just have fun you can't really go wrong :D

Welcome Josh! One thing you could do is register on PinPics in order to categorize and share your collection as it grows :)
 
Hi there. I'm new to collecting too. It's been a lot of fun that's for sure.

My best advice as a new collector, read and educate yourself about scrappers and counterfeit pins!! You'll be glad you did.
 
Hello Josh :wavey: and a very warm welcome to the forum. I have some Star Wars pins for trade that I purchased on the Disney Cruise, Star Wars Day At Sea.
My pin pics user name is the same as here.
 
Did not realize that there was a minimum post requirement and also a 10 day waiting period before I could start to sell or trade. Kind of stinks. :-(

The best advice I can give you, in regards to buying and selling, is to educate yours in the values of your collections and what you hope to obtain. At the same time, remember that we live in the era of both information and misinformation so what you find online may or may not be accurate; use multiple sources, see if everything is consistent, and above all, use common sense. If something seems too good to be true, it likely is. And don't be afraid to ask questions (this goes for learning forum etiquette and vocabulary also); the only silly question is the one you didn't ask.
