Don't take this the wrong way at all, but personally I thought you were leaving pin trading? :dunno: Maybe everyone else is as confused and is not sure why you are doing auctions if you are just trying to get rid of most of your collection.

and then you kept doing more auctions. And when someone knows that someone is getting out of pin trading they wont bid on auctions because they figure that their pins are going to be turn around and sold, and nobody really appreciates that.

In the short time I've been here I learned that some pins just do way better than others. For example, Princesses (especially Ariel), PODMs, some Stitch, some Cheshire Cat, and a few others do way better than others. Tinker Bell for the most part is a prime example of a pin that doesn't do all that well in the Auction House. Also, the lower the LE, the better it does. DSF and DA pins do better. Before I put up an auction, I do a little research. I look at the people who want the pin on PinPics and look for people who are here on the forum to help me determine whether or not it may or may not do well.

Don't take it personal. It isn't you. I just think that for your current auction, DPF members in general aren't looking for Mary Poppins pins. KWIM?

For me, it has nothing to do with the auctioneer. Though there are MANY pins being auctioned off that I find stunning, I have way too many collections & wants. I have to limit myself by what I already collect. Best of luck to you though!

A member posted something a LONG time ago that really affected how often I post an auction or what I auction. I don't remember who it was, but I remember that it was basically a "How do do an auction" thread. What really stood out to me was that the success of an auction almost entirely depends on WHAT is being auctioned, and has relatively little to do with WHAT is being auctioned. Putting something up for auction is a risk, so you have to have some sort of strategy before putting up any old pin. Since reading that post months ago, I really try to make sure the pin I put up is in high demand. If it isn't, I will probably be disappointed with the results.

+1: You have lots of great feedback, so I don't think it's you. The trade/want ratios on Pinpics don't necessarily predict whether a pin will auction well on DPF. because not all Pinpics members are DPF members. Also, someone may want the pin, but it may not be very high on their wants priorities. I haven't done a lot of auctions yet, but I've had a few very successful auctions and a few that might be considered less successful. Before deciding which pin to auction, I often do the following:

(1) Look at the actual list of Pinpics members who want the pin - do you recognize DPF ID's? - ie. do lots of DPF'ers want the pin?
(2) If in doubt, you can post a thread asking if people might bid on a particular pin (I do this a lot because I'm still pretty new and figuring out what auctions well) ... but this is just a guideline - some people respond but then don't bid for any number of valid reasons.
(3) Check the traders of the DPF'ers who might bid - it doesn't much matter if they want your pin, if they don't happen to have traders that you want.
....having said all this, the biggest bidders are often people who didn't even have your pin on their wants list, so the biggest consideration is still the type of pin (e.g. Belle is another one that auctions well) and trades/wants. The Mary Poppins pin is beautiful, but it probably falls outside the what most DPF'ers collect.

While I agree with what earlier replies state about you mentioning leaving, I understand that folks are allowed to change their minds. My biggest concern when bidding is if it is retradeable, or for my collection. If it isn't, or if i have nothing from the auctioneers wants, I won't bid.

Thanks everyone..and stated as in my auction post that I will be coming back and just slowy get around to trading again. I am not auctioning pins off to get pins to sell. I want pins that I can keep for my collection. Thank you
