I don't get it. HOW does it not have a bid???
Well this thread gave that pin some exposure! Look a bid! Ha
I bet there are some people that are really, really upset that this pin is getting exposure now. Lots of people wait until the last few seconds of an auction to bid. No bids would not be a surprise for me. The counter has 115 views, but I wonder how many are since this thread got posted.
Really? I mean, sure, I can't afford the price tag on it but comparing it to any of the highest marquee pins or R/C pins at the prices they are bringing lately?? Even seen several Beloved Tales getting way up there in price... this pin surpasses ANY of those any day of the week IN MY OPINION...lol It is huge and gorgeous!! Do you think those others are worth the price tags they are bringing in?

I hope not. I certainly did not post to upset anyone. I had just been watching it and was shocked at the lack of bids. Sure, I know most people wait until last minute to bid but I have found most of the time that a high end pin like this will at least have that one minimum bid fairly early on even if it never goes up any higher until last minute.
I'd have so many damn pins if the kids didn't have to eat everyday!
I think it would have been better if you had waited until after the auction ended for the shock of lack of bids. I feel like the pool is too crowded with all the you-know-whats in it now.
I do get what you mean, Gillian and again, I am truly sorry if I upset some by posting it but I will add here what I added to another member who had messaged me about it.
People here do this ALL the time. I have seen threads go up almost anytime certain R/C pins come up, when large lots of pins (Marquee's, Beloved Tales, etc) have come up, the highest Marquee pin, esp Tangled or Up, Designer pin, etc. Recently it was posted that the 6 pin DA carousel set was up before that auction had ended as well. In none of those threads have I ever seen anyone upset that it was posted or seen it said that people would rather ebay listings not go up until the end. If I had seen that said or not seen other people doing this same thing I would have never posted about this one. I just assumed it was fine after seeing it done so many times before. I hope that makes sense and anyone upset understands I was not posting about it to ruin anyones chances of getting this pin. I would never purposely do that to anyone here. I am just a bit frustrated that people may be upset that I have done something that others have done here often.
Oh I am not upset at you. Am I upset that this pin now has more exposure? You bet. IMO I don't think it's considerate to post these 'exposure' threads. I don't like to see them no matter what, even if I don't have any interest in the pin. I feel bad for all the collectors who were trying to see if they could get it at a 'reasonable' price and keep it on the DL so as not to cause panic or hysteria.

I absolutely understand that and I assure you, had I seen anyone comment on these threads before that it caused upset I would not have come and posted one myself or had I never seen anyone else do this in general I would not have done it. It is just when you see something done so often you assume it is not something that caused any problems.
And I'm sure some of us have had our hopes dashed, as finally some of those items ended up with bids at the end (especially it it goes above your max before you get a chance to bid!). So in the interest of not ruining someone else's day, and knowing full well what that feeling feels like, I hope that this sort of thing doesn't become a habit, and should be more confined to passing links around to your closest pin friends in private to satisfy the "I can't believe this is so cheap!" need.
Just out of curiosity did you post this thread to get exposure so the value if a pin you own stabilizes high? I'm not saying you are but it seems like you wanted people to know about this, and wanted people to bid. Had you NOT owne the pin, this thread wouldnt have existed? I'm not trying to sound rude, I honestly want to know if this thread was to inform or discuss the pin?
First of all, I don't collect princess pins and would not bid for this pin whether this thread was started or not. That said, I completely support Amanda's post and welcome it. I understand some potential bidders may have preferred less exposure to this auction, but DPF is a forum to discuss pins, and as such this thread is completely on-topic. It may make the price of this particular pin rise, but that will ultimately tell us the value of this pin. If only one person saw this auction and it sold for $600, it that truly the value of the pin? Maybe not, if when other people see this pin for sale then bid on it and it sells for (let's just say) $800.
I would also ask that we refrain from questioning her motives in posting this, since this could get ugly. However, as long as she is not planning to sell her version of this pin, then the sales price of this pin should be irrelevant. Also, should this pin sell for $600 or $800, there is no guarantee that it will sell for that price again...
I, for one, welcome these discussions (even if I were planning to bid on that pin). Thanks for reading my thoughts...
