I found out about pin trading pretty late on the last day of our vacation at DSR last year. For our recent trip, we bought a bag of pins off of ‘the bay’, confirmed authentication, and I went completely ballistic with it with our 1 day in the park.

No cast member was safe as I relentlessly traversed the park looking for pins that the kids and the missus would enjoy.

Ended up almost trading our bag of 50 pins and we have no idea what to do with the pins I acquired as they can well cover everyone’s lanyards and then some.

Came across this forum thinking ‘there’s no way that pin trading would be big enough to warrant a forum’.

I’m glad I’m wrong. AND I had no idea it would be this big.

Now I’m thinking of getting a lanyard for myself—as well as still trading for the kids and missus.

Welcome! Have you created a Disney Pin Place (DPP) id or a Pin Pics (PP) id yet?

They are great resources for your collection!

now this is one helluva welcome wagon.

So far the only discouraging part is finding out that most of what you have acquired is scrappers and counterfeits. Whatever I have left I am doubting their authenticity. Has anyone else been in the same wagon? Is it best to buy pins from the park or on this forum and then work your way from there?

Hi there and welcome to dpf firstly don't worry we have all been there with the scrapper pins I now tend to stay away from the hidden mickeys as these Are the most counterfeited ones I would recommend buying of here but if you want to buy of ebay then I tend to take a look on pinpics or disneypinplace to see if there is any warnings of this pin being a scrapper pin as your from America you should take a look on disneystore.com website as there is pins on there and they do release box sets every so often hope this helps Damien

Welcome to the forum! I totally thought the same thing when I started, but now I love it here! enjoy your stay and I hope you make some great trades!

See now you done it, there goes the kids college money....

It sucks getting scrappers, your best bet is to buy from Disney or from people on the forum. EBay is OK but just be careful, most pin lots will have scrappers in them.
Welcome to the forum and have fun trading!

From what it sounds like, I'm going to do all trading and buying from here. There's too much minute details that won't show up in pictures that it's just better to go off of a trust-based dedicated community.

I just have to wait for my 10 days to come up

Oh no! I have to keep this hobby cheap and simple; Occam's Razor.

I have Lego, Hot Wheels, and Bibbi-Bobbity-Boutique fund that take precedence. Right now i'm not looking for anything TOO expensive.

It does suck that the Hidden Mickeys are the most counterfeited because that's all of what I'm looking for. Looks like I'm going to replace all the pins in the family collection....eventually.
