I outbid someone on ebay for 25 official Disney pins for $17.98 . He was from Kissimmee , FL .
This is what I sent him afterwards :
Can you please mail right away , I'm leaving for WDW and cruise May 6th . I hope these are not SCRAPPERS , we get enough people buying lots from China . If they are please don't send them and refund me .

This was about a week ago . Today I got this :

OMG , he is admitting they are scrappers . So, I wrote this .

So basically by refunding me the money you are confirming they were scrappers . Shame on you ! I thinkn I will report you to ebay as we are trying to rid the parks of these .


So how do I report him to ebay ? He has 10 lots for sale now . He starts them off at 99 cents . If he gets $20.00 for each lot . Thats $200.00 and 250 more scrappers in the park .
 
On every item there is a "report this auction" link, Click and fill out.

Also if an other member has the VERO info for disney, reporting them there also can lead to an investigation of their sales and possible termination of their account.
 
There should be a link to report the seller to Ebay. But more importantly, report the seller to TWDC via an e-mail along with a link for there item AND store, if they have an Ebay store.
 
I think you over reacted a bit. Rather than deal with a high maintenance buyer I would just refund also. And, the seller probably thought they'd get more money and a convenient solution came up. Refund and sell elsewhere or keep. They didn't admit they were scrappers just because they refunded.

I agree. Plus the fact that the pins were so cheap is usually a dead give away that they are scrappers.

This, to me, does not sound like an admission that the pins are scrappers. It sounds like the seller is saying that all the pins he/she sold to you are pins that he/she traded for at Disney and (the following not said common knowledge) since the only way to guarantee a pin's authenticity is to purchase it directly from Disney (back to what is said), the seller would rather just issue you a refund in advance and save himself/herself the hassle of sending you a batch of pins when you may find some/all of them unacceptable and send them back.
 
Well I left him negative feedback and reported the incident to ebay . He uses the same exact picture in all his auctions and states if you buy more than one lot, you may receive duplicates . He's claiming you will receive one low edition LE pin . OK, how many low edition LE pins does he have .
I did the right thing . I feel like I'm one less person trading scrappers in Disney parks or in my case, wasting money, as I'd throw them away or use them as others have given some excellent ideas .
This way ebay looks into it, if he can prove he is not selling scrappers, they can revise his feedback . Just seems awfully suspicious to me .
 
We do, too, agree you overreacted. But there were some key points to keep in mind:

You realized the seller has more than one lot all with the same description and picture. Ring a bell in your head?

You seem like an experienced trader. Your post says you should've known. You should have.

He was at least admitting he may not know the authenticity of the pins and was willing to give a refund to avoid any problems. He didn't say they were all counterfeit and scrapper pins.

Now that is the way he should've acted and responded. He knew how to handle a situation and didn't know about the pins, hence willingness to refund. But I question whether you did do a good thing by reporting him. He could be honest and obviously didn't know about the pins. Just that they were traded at Disney. Or he could've been a phony and be lieing to you, but I doubt that if he was wiiling to give you your money back.

But then again. He could've given you a refund because he didn't want trouble with the law for selling fakes.

Either way. It's an interesting story.
 
As soon as you leave negative feedback, a window opens and ebay questions if you need to report a problem . Now as far as my statement I should have known better, I gave him the benefit of the doubt as he is near Disney . Now the seller was in China, Hong Kong, etc , I would NOT have bid , period . But he was in FL and since it was an auction and not a BIN , I took a chance . It took him a week , actually over a week to refund my money ? C'mon in that time, he could have gone through those pins and picked out 25 authentic Disney pins and send them . Him waiting this long to refund my money put up a red flag that they are scrappers and one thing I do know as a trader, we are trying to rid the lanyards of these fake pins .
As I said, he can now sort it out through ebay and if they feel he has official Disney trading pins , they can reverse the feedback . I stand by my decision in this case .
 
Since you never 'officially' bought the pins (had them in hand) I think that it is very unfair that you left negative feedback. They are most likely scrappers but you don't know 100% since you never actually seen them in person. I also find it unfair that after you bought the item you message the seller about the concern, that is something your supposed to do before hand. It was nice of the seller to give you a refund, in my opinion you shouldn't have left him negative feedback.

Also I feel that as a general note for all pin traders/ collectors you should never buy a lot that has a 'stock' photo. Sellers that list multiple lots with the same photo that has all hidden mickeys in it are most likely all scrappers. Also if the pins are selling for less then a dollar there probably fake. It is mostly common sense when buying pins on eBay, know what to avoid and you should be fine.
 
And could have gotten a bag of fakes and no doubt would have . Look, I'm not in the mood to argue with anyone whether or not I did the right thing . I've been terribly ill lately and trying to get over my illness before leaving . I just thought I'd put it out there . Everyone has there opinion . The fact he has the same darn picture up for every auction should have given me a heads up, but I didn't look till just now .
I have lost 7 lbs in 3 days thats how ill I am . okay, I didn't put it up to be criticized and made to feel bad .

I don't feel you should have left a negative feedback for fakes... however, the seller certainly deserved negative feedback for not responding to you or sending you your pins for a week and a half, and then refunding your money without any sort of discourse. In the end, it may have all been for naught anyway, as I'm not sure that feedback stays for transactions that are not completed (buyer didn't pay, seller refunded, etc).

That said... they were probably fakes, based on the info you've given. So count your blessings that you have your money back, you're not stuck with them, and now you know what to avoid in the future.

OK, since most of you thought I did the wrong thing , I called ebay . They are sending him an email to tell him I called and want to revise his feedback . Once he sends the form to me I can revise the feedback . I am actually going to do this and tell him I'm sending the money back to him and buying the pins and if I receive scrappers , I will send each one of you a couple of them . :lol:
 
I was looking at starting a thread to collect all these and do a big art project.. I like the art of the pins, but don't want them tradable anymore. I'd like to turn them into something people can appreciate.

I can't help feeling that most of the posts above are responding to the "person" drawing from past experience and not to what was conveyed.

Ok. This is nothing new, just another Ebay scrapper seller, and maybe Debi should have known better and not bought a lot like this. But, I think in the end she did the right thing by reporting this seller.

Few people seem to think that a refund does not nescessarily mean scrappers. But, c'mon now what did you really expect? Was (s)he really going to tell "Oh, I am so sorry. Yes, these are scrappers and you got me there." ??

After I called eBay to revise the feedback, he left a very nasty message . He said he was going to report me to eBay . LOL ... Me with 1008 feedbacks all beyond excellent 100 % and that I didn't deserve his pins . LOL
I TOLD HIM NOT TO GET HIS FEATHERS RUFFLED, I was already in the process of revising his feedback, but Added,you mean in a week and a half you couldn't go through 25 pins and find 25 that were authentic especially since he claims to have experience in pin collecting . I'm dying to see what his answer will be . LOL
 
Goodness Debi. I just found him and in his fb the items are listed as "private" So, there is no way that he is selling legit pins.
