I'm putting this in the pin discussion section because it has to do with pins.

It's one thing to not respond to Pinpics requests because most of the time they're either not personal, or include a message like 'No need to reply if not interested!' But to me personally, I don't think it's cool when someone ignores a PM you send them. If you don't want to do the trade, then that's totally understandable! But a quick, "Hey, I'll pass but thanks for the offer" or something would be nice. Instead, I've noticed a growing trend of people ignoring PMs I send. I'm sorry if you think I'm not worthy of a few seconds of your time, and I'm sorry my traders just don't seem to be 'good enough' for people here. With all the negative attitudes and everything else I've dealt with lately, I do have to admit I'm getting close to throwing in the towel. I love pin trading and collecting, but there seems to be so much more negativity, competition, and stress than I remember there being when I first started in 2006! I just want to trade, make new friends and stay connected with old ones, and have fun! Instead I'm being shunned and ignored. Am I the only one this is happening to??
 
Oooooh I hope it wasn't me. I get a ton of PM's and I tend to forget to write back. No excuse, just bad memory. :-(

That's why I respond to PMs right when I get them *lol* because Im notorious for having a bad memory as well! And JJ you're absolutely right, a simple 'No thank you' goes a very long way!!
 
I'm sorry 2 hear this is happening 2 you echo it has happened 2 me before as well :/ Please don't leave us thoguh! Your so nice and easy 2 talk 2 but I agree if I send someone a pm and they are'nt intrested all I ask is a simple no thanks. is it 2 much 2 ask?:dunno:
 
I forget to reply sometimes too. I tell myself, "I'll just reply tomorrow" and then I completely forget Sorry to anyone who I may not have replied to!
 

@Cara9271 OR some people lie and say they wont be at DLR PTN and they show up... then when u ask to see their Rapunzel pins they claim they didnt bring them only to find I had just looked at her book! LOL ppl are funny sometimes for whatever reason it may not be personal.
 
Oh and Vicki to answer your question, no it wasn't you! *lol* sorry. Thanks mojoscout *hug* I'm glad you think so. I always get the feeling that people don't like me; paranoia and thinking that is sort of part of my depression.

It just gets so frustrating. I've had numerous people ignore my PMs, several other people offer to sell me pins when I have absolutely no money(I have to have my parents help with my bills this month, so when I say I have no money, I don't just mean that I don't want to spend my money on pins, it means I HAVE NO MONEY), I've had people ask for my very best pins for pins on my want list that aren't a fair trade, you name it!! I've been told that I'll never get my holy grails because my traders aren't good enough, that I need to 'pick an easier movie'.... I'm just getting really discouraged. With everything happening in real life right now and in the past few months(my injured hip, being on disability since February, being unable to attend pin releases, my grandma dying, my late best friend's would be 30th b'day which was her 'I want to live to this' age, etc.), I thought pin trading and getting those beautiful, shiny pieces of metal and making new friends would lift my spirits. I'm getting so disappointed though.
 
As someone who doesn't frequent the board often or get many PMs, can you tell the other person is ignoring you (clicking a button?, date/time stamp if read?) or are they just not writing back? I get PMs, but sometimes it might be days before I come back and the new PM has just been sitting there, unread. So for people like myself, we aren't ignoring anyone, we just aren't here much.
 

Echo whoever told you you will never get your grails or pick an easier movie are rude and don't know what they are talking about. you WILL get your grails!! You just have 2 be paticent Pins collecting/trading is not supposed 2 be competative or a side job and I think a lot of poeple don't remember this.
 
LuvSimba, no I'm talking about people who are online and posting constantly. I think they just either choose not to respond, or maybe they don't use PMs or something. I dunno, there's just a lot of straws on this camel's back right now!! *lol*
 


Jabberwocky, just so you know, sometimes I get PMs that I really want to respond to, but I need to figure out exactly what to say. And because I obsess so much over it, sometimes that means it takes a day or two to figure out the wording.

In fact, this just happened to me this week. Someone PMd me, offering to pick up pins for me, and it took me two days just to figure out how to accept their offer. And don't even ask how long it took me to list the Cars Land Reveal/Conceal set on Pinpics.

(Granted, this is not true for most people. And I don't know if this is true for that person that you mentioned, whom you noticed has logged in since you sent him the PM. But I just wanted to let you know that there are people like me out there. And you never know what is going on in someone else's life. So please try not to judge people so harshly. )
 

I feel the same way. I think that the pin trading community can be very cliqueish and I'm on the outside. I always see these post about people being zapped again and again, and I've never been zapped and while I'm happy for them, and I'm not trying to get anyone to feel sorry for me here, just making an observation, it does feel like no one likes me. I know I've been a little too honest with a couple people and have made non-friends (enemies just seems too harsh) and maybe they've gone off and told other people, which I feel is totally inappropriate, a problem you have with one person is between the 2 of you, not everyone on the forum. It also should not be a reflection upon you as it is a single encounter. With that being said I feel really left out sometimes, like no one likes me.

I also have had people ignore my PMs, and I know that I probably have once or twice because I've gotten caught up in something else and then what do you do when you find out it's been a couple weeks or months? How do you respond to someone a month later?

Finally, I completely understand your situation, I've been on worker's comp for 6 long years, short of losing your limbs it's the worst situation ever. No one who has gone through it can understand how devastating it is, I hope your situation is resolved much more quickly than mine, and if you ever need someone to talk to who has gone/going through it, I'm a great listener. And don't listen to the person who told you that you'll never get your grails. Most of us might not, that's why they're grails, but that doesn't mean we should give up on them. As you said pin collecting should be fun, and when you're in the situation that we've been sometimes the only bright spot is getting a package with a pretty little, shiny piece of metal.

I'm not going to tell you to keep your head up because I know how much I hate being placated, but I do believe and it's the only thing that keeps me going, death is like a daily thought for me, is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I do still believe that things will get better. I've seen some of your posts and going through a similar situation, but for even longer, my heart really goes out to you and I've been wanting to send you something, the only thing is I only have one pin from your wants and it doesn't seem like enough so I'd like to maybe make you something if you're interested. I can make almost anything, I'm kind of a crafting/artistic genius, jewelry, a handbag, a pin painting (ie a backdrop for a pin that you have), whatever you want, within reason of course, I'm probably even more broke than you since my case has been going on for 6 years, so if you're interested let me know.
 
I agree. I think it is very clique-ish and I've always been on the outside. There are numerous people here who I feel don't like me, either because I've been too honest with them at some point in time, or because I didn't do something they wanted me to do, or I wouldn't let them take advantage of me when I was new, or maybe they think I'm not good enough to be 'in'. I'm sorry about your 6 year workers comp situation! I was on medical for a year from April 2010 until April 2011 because I was really sick(first I had mycoplasma, then I had legionaires disease, then I had whooping cough), and I was finally feeling like things were getting on track when I started having really horrible pain in my hip back in February. And you're right, if you haven't been in this situation, you can't understand how frustrating it is. I don't have any money, I have a hard time paying my bills and half the time I can't even do that, I can't put gas in my car half the time to even go see a friend. That and the mental and emotional impact is a lot more than people would think. I don't get any social interaction; I work at Disneyland, I'm used to smiling all day, greeting and chatting with guests, making people's day magical. Now most of the human interaction I have is at physical therapy, the doctor's office, and my parents. Not having that day to day human interaction really makes my depression(I was diagnosed at age 5) worse.

Oh hon, you're so sweet. You don't need to send me anything! Just the thought cheers me up I totally appreciate the sentiment, and I know what you mean about watching others constantly getting zapped and even just trading for grails all the time. It's easy to start to feel like your traders just aren't up to snuff, or maybe people just don't like you and that they just don't want to trade with you. It's easy to get paranoid. *hugs tight* thank you for taking the time to talk to me and tell me of your situation! I'm glad I know there's someone here who truly understands what I'm going through!!
 
I've been very frustrated with buying pins lately. For example, recently I bought several pins from a member who shall remain nameless. She sent me the total amount I owed her, and I immediately paid her, via Paypal. Several days passed, and I didn't get any message from her. Then a full week went by. Then a few more days. Finally, I decided to message her and ask if she ever sent my pins. She said no, she was still looking for some of them in her collection. And then she messaged me again today to say one of the pins she sold me is actually broken, could I pick out another pin?

She seems very nice, just terribly unprofessional. I don't think I'll be buying from her again.

But yeah... Ugh. Wouldn't the world be a much better place if people would just behave? It's enough to make you want to scream sometimes! Didn't their mothers teach them any manners?
 
Hey anyone want to buy the Robin Hood Chinese New Year pin from another member for $35 and trade it to me? *LOL* long shot, I know, but I had to try! hehe someone offered to sell one to me but obviously I have no money just pins!
 
Wow, You have so much going on in your life. I want you to know that all people are not the same. For whatever reason some nice and some not so nice. From my short time on this site I've met some uterly fantastic people and some ( to put it nicely ) DUDS!!! You're right, this should be a place to go and get away from the dreary pains of everyday life. A special place with special people... that's right, a magical place and there are some of those people here. Continue on. Come here and pick the ones who talk to you and like you and the others? They simply are not worthy of you friendship. YOU are a good person, you know that. Come to the people who care and let the others go, they are not worth it. I've also had an issue with a seller here on DPF. I thought that buying pins on DPF would eliminate getting scrappers, but I'm pretty sure every pin they sent me is a fake. I've contacted the mods but I haven't heard anything from them, seems that they don't want to help, but I don't know what to do. How do you bring this up to someone? Hey you sold me fakes, I want my money back? It is such a sticky situation, I don't want to accuse someone of something when I can't prove anything. But at the same time, that's money that I can't afford to lose.
 
Echo, I have been feeling the same way, it's so disheartening when for the lack of one stupid popular pin you can't get your grail! I literally went on Facebook the other day aboutc my sheer undying hatred for tangled, not because the film isn't good, far from it the film is great. It's purely because of the tangled pin craze that I missed out on the fox and the hound pin in my signature and it was heart breaking. In all honesty I nearly cried because I didn't get that pin.

But! I have had a couple of wonderful pin friends in the uk go out of their way to help me get the Oliver pin in my sig, and that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (pardon the silly phrasing!) don't leave and though I feel the same, very disheartened at the moment, I know that with a little help and some money, lol, I'll eventually get the pins I want.

Feel better and stay with us! The whole no reply to a pm thing sucks but sometimes people just forget, don't think you're disliked because of it cause clearly you are most certainly not!

I would recommend PMing dancecats. I think she's the only mod that's around right now. I have an easier time reaching her in the chatroom though, sending her a private message through there always works for me But if you feel you received fake pins from a seller here, I would PM that seller and ask for a refund because you suspect that they're scrappers. There's a nice/polite way to put it that won't make it seem like an accusation. But no one likes buying something that turns out to be fake! I would definitely say something!
