It is normal, if you are logged in and are typing a long message it will log you out. It happened to me when I was typing my SS introduce yourself post, but you don't lose your message that you typed when you log back in it takes you back to what you were typing.
The forum also logs you off if you go onto other web pages, it will see you as being inactive.

hmm... I never have this issue. I can bounce from website to website and come back and not need to log in again. Heck I shut down my computer and the next time I turn it on and go to DPF homepage I am automatically logged in. I have to physically click the "log out" button, I almost forgot my password the other day when I accidently clicked log out.
