I wanted to say hi,I am from washington state, i have been collecting for a few years. Nothing serous until recently. I mainly started for my kids when we were going on a disney cruise. we bought a few while on the trip but then septemeber we had a family trip to DLR. I took my 3 kids plus my sister and her 3 kids and my mom. I am sad to say i did what so many people do when they go I bought pin from ebay lots to get pins for a cheaper price that was before I knew that almost all pins you get are fake, I did check all feedback on the people i bought from just to make sure that there feedback was good.. i did notice at that time that some of them had negative comment about fakes so i stayed away from those seller.. well i should add that after that trip my mom went on another disney cruise and to wdw with my brother who lives in florida.. she is not addicted to piin trading.. So now our whole family is addicted to pin trading. i know for my mom and the rest they collect what they like and they are not as worried when they go to the park about getting fakes.
That is were i am different I do not like fake pins that is why i am here to learn as much as I can so I can enjoy the hobby.. My mom and my nephew plan a few months ago to go to DLR for a overnight trip just to pin trade.. Well i decided a week before they went that i would go. SO i just got back last week from a fun trip trading pins.. I will add that I went though almost all my pins i took with me and looked for ones i thought might be fake do to color or wrong stamp number on the back of pins or bad finish and those i left at home and did not trade.. I came back with alot of nice pins that i either traded for or bought.. i wish i would have known to look for the pixar pins before i went. I really like the way that set looks.I have started a few new sets.. My goal in this hobby is try to stay away from fakes/scappled pins. I know that with my 2 kids they will alway trade for what they like on a CM's or pin board and not care if it is real or not. the one thing i will do is make sure i do not add to the fakes in the park with pin that my family trades. i know i do have about 50 pins that i now have to throw out since i think they are fakes..
I am excited about this forum and to meet all you great people. i am also planing another trip to WDW around christmas for a family vacation..
A little about what I collect.. I like oswald pins. And jimmy cricket. those are my two main focus right now. I did start the new Heroes vs villains set which i just finished. and would also like to start the pixar mystery set..I think my funnest pin i got on my last trip since I was there on mardi gras. I think it would have to be my 2013 mardi gras pin

Hello and welcome! I'm from Washington too!

There's a link in my sig to a thread where we post about possible northwest area pin gatherings. If you're interested, you might want to subscribe to that thread; we'd love to have more people!

Aloha and Welcome! :wavey:

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I hope that you and your family is able to find some comfort and solace during this difficult time - and maybe the addition of a new community of people that shares the passion for and love of these shiny pieces of metal might be of help to you. I wish you all the best with your new hobby - and your new friends.
