Hi all, I'm new to pin collecting and newer to trading. Just had my first ever Disney vacation this past summer on the Disney Cruise Line. We were treated so well that my family and I have gone all in and joined the vacation club so we can really maximize our Disney experiences. I don't have many pins yet, though I do have quite a few from DCL. I never realized that there was such a passionate community of traders so I am exited to learn the do's and don'ts of trading. My favorites are Goofy, Stitch and any of the Halloween themed pins. I am also a big Star Wars and Marvel fan so I'm super excited to see what Disney does with those properties...I can imagine some great pins! Also, I was lucky enough to score one of the Disney Movie Rewards Fantasyland pins (it arrived yesterday) so that's a nice one to have in the collection.

My first question for the group: where do you get the pin binders and what type of pages do you use? I'd like to invest in a safe way to carry pins without getting them scratched up.

Hello and welcome to DPF!

I'm pretty new to this so I'm not the best one to advise you about binders, but I use regular binders and place my traders with their cards in standard 9-slot baseball card sheets - I put the pin backs through the plastic to secure them. For larger cards (like some Disney Auctions cards) you can get 3-slot photo sheets.

If you'd like to arrange some online pin trades, you should consider opening an account on Pinpics.com - it's free and you can link the account to your DPF profile.

A lot of people use pin bags they buy directly from Disney. (There are a couple available on the Disney Store website, if you're interested.) Other people buy regular 3 ring binders and fill them up with either velvet-backed pin pages (which you can buy at the Disney Parks) or 9 pocket plastic pages, which are more commonly used for baseball cards and are available on Amazon and eBay.
 
Hello, im jrdnsmom and I too love the halloween pins, they are one of my favorites you can tell if you see my collection, they take up more pages, Wecome, I have to say this is a fabulous site, with great members.
 
Get the pin backs (chrome or Gold) from EBAY user Disneypatriot. They are the best of the best! just search for the reviews in the forums! people love these. better than the ones that u need a wrench with (the ones you have to screw on)
 
Welcome! I am a newer trader as well and we have many of the same interests. Do you have a pinpics account? I've had great success initiating trades through that site, plus it makes your wants and trades visible to everyone on these forums. Thanks and good luck!

Now, to answer your question:

+1 I agree 100% When I bring pins that I intend to trade with other guests to pin trading nights/events, this is exactly how I bring them. I place them exactly as described above because I find that's the most secure way to transport them, display them at events, and keep them on their original cards. While some people don't care if a pin comes on its original card (I don't unless said card is special in some way), others care very much and might not want the pin if it doesn't have its original card.
