Hello everyone!

First about me. I am new to Disney pin trading. Bought my first pins on honeymoon with my wife late last year at all the Orlando parks. We picked up pins from everywhere we went with the plan to build a shadowbox display to remember the trip by. As such we ended up with an eclectic collection of pins from the Disney resorts, a Hard Rock Orlando pin, Blue Man Group pin and some from the Universal parks. The shadowbox came together great and everyone who comes by our house always stops and comments on it. Kids who see it love the Disney pins and their reactions are what have really brought me here.

We have a large number of nieces, nephews, etc. Since they all seem to love the Disney pin dominated display we have I am trying to plan ahead for Christmas/Birthdays and start making displays for all of them. To do a nicely populated 8"x10" shadowbox I am thinking that I'll need around 10-12 pins each. That isn't too bad, but when I'm going to need to make around 20 different displays I run into an issue that the price of buying those pins new really won't work. To get around the cost issue I have been looking at buying a few bulk lots on Ebay which brings up another issue.

I see a lot of sellers on Ebay offering lots of 25-100 Disney pins each at an affordable price. When I go through each sellers feedback they usually have a very high percentage of positive feedback but everyone has a few buyers claiming they received all fake pins. This makes me wary to buy cheap lots from anyone. I have seen a lot of advice on how to help avoid buying fake pins on Ebay but I'm a little new to this and feel a little out of my depth trying to apply the advice I find to weed out good deals from the fake pin lots.

My perfect situation here would be to buy several hundred pins on the cheap to give me a nice base to start building my gift displays. Once that is done I'd like to pick and choose some pins from the official store to add a special touch to each display. Hopefully I'd have enough unused pins to put on lanyards to hand out at our annual family Thanksgiving trip to WDW so everyone who wanted could trade in the parks. I'd want to avoid fakes obviously and I'd like to keep the price manageable to start out.

What I need to know is the "perfect situation" that I've just described doable? Are there any places, or sellers, that are reputable and affordable that anyone could direct me to? Thank you all in advance for any tips you could offer me and thank you for reading all this. I look forward to chatting here and I'm hoping this affection I'm developing for Disney pins doesn't turn into an addiction. I'm already working on a Vinylmation 3D pin display for myself, I'll post a pic of that and the gift displays as I get them done.

Have a wonderful day all!

Hi
Your best place is right here on DPF!I have gotten some wonderful pin lots..maybe a couple of them we scrappers
but everythingelse was great!the sellers are great here as well

and Welcome to DPF!

Judy

You came to the right place. You can either trade with people on here or buy pins. The pins are here start between 5 and 7 and go up from there depending on what the pin is. If it is a hard to get pin it will be a high priced pin.

Typically rack pins (that I have seen on here. I don't really buy from here) start around $5. I think I had seen some very common ones and hidden Mickey pins start around $3 a pin.
And people re willing to do multi pin trades with others just to save some shipping any it is also a win/win situation for everyone cause both parties get multiple pins that wanted.

Hello! Welcome to DPF! I also recommend checking out the pins for sale section of this forum. You can check the references of the trusted sellers on DPF and know that you're getting authentic pins. You're absolutely right to be skeptical of pin lots on eBay. Even though a lot of folks sell scrappers, there are a number of reputable sellers that post pin listings on that auction site. You can check the references of some of these eBay sellers on other sites such as disboards.com

welcome! If you're looking for more Vinyl 3-Ds, let me know :-)

You can get traders here, usually for $2-3 postage paid. They are real too!

when dealing with that many kids to make shadow boxes for, its gonna get pricey...truthfully almost all the ebay bulk lot sellers are selling fakes-- you can bid with some good sellers, pins individually, i have done very well with those pins. If you pick one seller and bid with them for say a week, it cuts shippng down and you may average about 3-4 dollars a pin, and thats GOOD. I hope you enjoy your time on here and do well with your bids! I love to trade so dont hesitate, also if you want to look at my trades, i would be happy to sell for a low price to get you started --and no EBAY fees;;;;I like giving the pins to kids anyway so it may as well be "your" kids!
