Hello! I just moved to Florida near WDW and started up pin collecting! I only bought two in the park, but I just bought one of those 25-pin-packs off Ebay so I can start my collection small and start trading :)

If you have any tips, that'd be great!

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome! I recommend using a Disney pin database (Disney Pin Trading Database or Pinpics) to discover just how MANY pins are out there. Start making a "want" list and start looking for them. I'm fairly new to pin trading and that is what I did. Good luck and I hope to "see" you around!

Christine

Oh thanks! I have already started to make a want list and started to poke around for the ones I'm really looking for! Pin Pics is great for that!
Thanks!

I would also suggest making a personalized signature with your wants. I think it helps with trading and Zapping. If you don't know how to make your own, there are several people on this board who will do it for you. Have fun!

Yeah! I don't really know what I want quite yet since I literally stared yesterday, haha. I am about to build onto the signature below with Maleficent pins I want.

Thank you :D

Welcome aboard!

Personal experience offering here - Just a note on those 25 pin packs you find on auction sites such as eBay. Those pins are generally frowned upon as nearly all of them are fakes. When you trade with a Cast Member, they might not accept the pin if they deem it a fake. We did the exact same thing and purchased 100 pins to trade with CMs, we were told that they 'could be' fakes and the CM wouldn't trade. Of course other CMs traded - just letting you know our experiences with those 'bulk pin' bags.

Hope to trade with you soon!

I'm also fairly new and live about 30-45 minutes from Disneyland so welcome! Unfortunately I did the same thing you did and ordered a pack of 25 pins off eBay and they turned out to all be fake..its probably too late to cancel your order now but I just wanted to warn you best of luck with your pin trading though!

Thanks! Yeah, after I ordered, I read up on fakes and was really disappointed at that. When I get the pin pack I'm going to go through them all. If there's too many counterfeits or scrappers, I'm going to ask for my money back.

Also, knowing that something might be fake, I would never trade it away. I might keep a few just for my own enjoyment or to give to children at my job! We'll see how the pack looks!

Also, for what it's worth, I did look at the seller's history and it seems that overall they sell genuine pins. I failed to find anyone complaining of any problems.

Welcome to the forums, and to pin trading! It looks like you're already off to a great start with your knowledge of scrapers and fakes. It's definitely appreciated. I hope you have a lot of fun here!
