Hi Disney Pin Community! I am Molly Ludwig, part of the new ownership team for PinPics (Team also includes my husband, Joseph Ludwig and my sister, Mallory Carr). We know there has been a lot of frustration over the years and definitely know that the login function is not working properly. Please know that we are working with our programmers and engineers to get into the servers and fix the issue. Rest assured that we WILL Fix IT! Joseph Ludwig is an Engineer and has a background Managing Multi-Million Dollar Companies and is a Turn Around Specialist (making failing companies successful). He is working to surround PinPics with an amazing team to fix the current issues. We are also working to launch a NEW Website on NEW Servers with heightened Security. We appreciate your patience during this transition. Also, we would love to have your feedback on what YOU want to see in the new PinPics website. We are excited to be more involved in the Disney Pin Community.

Hi!

Thanks so much for being transparent and willing to hear our ideas!

I’d just like to echo my previous thought that after a year of inactivity accounts should go into “sleep mode” and be invisible on W/T and owns ratios. This will help traders have more realistic expectations.

I also want to apologize if you get any cold unwelcoming responses, we should all be understanding that you are the NEW owner and any previous frustrations should not be projected toward you.

Welcome! Calling for requests on what we'd like to see on the site is brave indeed! :)

Some initial thoughts:
- bring back the ability to search within our collection (it hasn't worked for a long time)
- make the comments section searchable along with the main description
- multiple photos per pin
- as others have already said, members who haven't logged on in for over 12 months shouldn't be included in trades/wants numbers
- I'd love to see new comments pop up as a thread of new info like they did on the prior site (otherwise there's no way to know that new info has been added unless you happen to open up that pin entry)
- the ability to cross-reference pins from the same series/set would be fabulous

(Also, while not necessary for functionality, I always thought that getting rid of the info showing which member added a new pin was a bad idea. I realize that info may be lost for the existing entries, but I think including it for new entries would emphasize that it's a community-built database and encourage more people to devote their time to creating the entries.)

I agree with a lot of the comments especially ability to search collection and hiding hibernated accounts.

The only thing I will say about older accounts is that on occasion, I have asked long time pin traders to help me locate someone who isn’t active but who has a pin listed and I have been able to find the person through mutual friends. So it’s kind of nice to know who might have a pin. But I also don’t like that they show up in my “who I can trade with” or in the want/trade ratio.

One of my big pet peeves about searching in pinpics is spelling errors. For example there are some listed as Pinocchio (correct) and some listed as pinnochio. I wish there was an easy way to suggest an edit while I’m searching (almost like a Wikipedia thing where I could just update it as I go).

It’s also frustrating when you want to search, for example, for a tinkerbell full body cutout pin. Like there are thousands of tinkerbell pins and there’s nothing extra on the pin to make my search unique. Maybe an option to list things as full body only or head only to reduce the search?

I think there are a TON of ways the cataloguing of existing pins could be improved. I know this is low on the priority list, but just something to think of for down the road.

Congrats on the purchase. The biggest feature that I see missing from Pinpics is being able to start your traders over from zero. I have no idea what I have in my pinpics traders anymore and there's no easy way to just start over when you've gone to an event and not kept up with what you traded.

Congrats on the purchase. I would just be happy if the pins were current and Pinpics worked well at what it does best - online trading. (I will say, I have seen members post in the last day that haven't posted in quite some time, so your announcement definitely caused a stir in the pin community.)

This is one of the reasons I've been a long time advocate of any new database using Keyword Tagging approach, instead of relying on Users for properly spelling something, or including all the characters on a pin, or listing all the movie associations. One of the benefits of a database system is the data integrity that comes from storing information as numbers in fields instead of just "text." It has to be correct once, and then everyone else selects from a dropdown or autofill. Keyword tagging also helps with things like searching for Si or Am or Nana or bringing up on the Chip (chipmunk) pins vs Chip (the teacup) or pulling up all "Walt Disney World" pins that SAY "Walt Disney World" on them instead of every pin that was ever released at Walt Disney World.

Similar thing, but a field for Series. People want a quick way to find all the pins in a series, and while trying to normalize the name helps, typos or missing one entry where someone did it wrong leads to duplicate listings.

In general, "more fields" would be useful because we're still just stuck with the ones that were created in the super early days before people knew what they wanted, but now people want a lot more information to help determine authenticity (especially for 'back of pin' type info) and what was "common knowledge" in ye olden days doesn't seem to be common knowledge so seeing a field with one of several different enamel types, or one of several back types (not having a Mickey waffle doesn't mean a pin is fake) could take the edge off the uncertainty. These odd looking things aren't really odd, but expected.

Also some fields were 20 years ago designed as "one to one" fields when a "one to many" relationship is the reality for many pins. Origin / Price / Release Date / UPC

Old Pinpics had an alternative interface that allowed you to bulk add pins to your Owns/Wants/Trade instead of adding each one at a time. It was most useful when you returned from vacation with 30 new Hidden Mickey pins. You could quickly check them off, click save, and that was it. Also, post-pin event you could remove 50 trader pins from your trades list in the same way. And general thoughtfulness of how all the different processes works if multiplied by a 100 or 1000. Lots of mouse clicks can turn updating into a chore. It's one thing to update a handful of pins when completing a mail trade. It's another when you go 15 months without being able to retrieve your pins from your Dad's house and you have stuff from multiple sources and then you have like 500 pins you need to add...

Also, it would be nice if the new Owners could post a bit of a personal pin history. Like I said in the other thread, with everyone so scattered between social media platforms we are likely strangers to them, and they are strangers to many here.

Thank YOU so much BellesEnchantedRose! We really appreciate your message. We look forward to getting to know all of you that care so deeply about PinPics and what it represents to the Pin Community!

I heard you were making a pinpics app!

I suggest a matching app similar to Tinder (Pinder?)
We could swipe left or right until we get a trading match
it would make trading very fun

Good luck with the new site!
We love this idea as a feature in the App! See great things come from the community! Thank you so much Justin_Bieber

Thank you Hope! I loved reading your post. There are several features here that you have listed that make a lot of sense. As I said our first MISSION is to get the current site fixed.....the Login etc. I know how frustrating it is. My husband has been in Pin Pics everyday researching and taking pictures of pins for about 3 years.......thousands of pictures. He knows the struggle of the current search functions. As we start to incorporate the features for the new site - we will be mindful of all of the ideas from the Community.

Suggestion. As a long time Wall Street'er involved with MANY large projects in the past may I make a suggestion. List your Goals and Objectives, with time frames, and manage expectations. Leaving everything opened ended just results in failure. Let folks know what you are planning on doing, the time frame, and how to measure if you are successful or not.

Otherwise, you will be all over the place with no measurable accomplishments.

Welcome Molly, Joe & Mallory,

Getting the database updated to facilitate trading and getting Collections updated is the top priority after fixing the log-in problem.

Otherwise, to emphasize previous Suggestions:
1. Return ability to search within your pins by character, movie, catagory, etc. It's impossible to search through 23 pages of my Collection to see which Tigger or Cinderella pins I do have.

2. Put inactive accounts in "sleep mode".

Thanks for opening this dialogue and Good Luck with your purchase of PinPics!

Hi Figment919!
My husband, Joseph Ludwig is an Engineer and Turn Around Specialist (goes into failing companies to turn them around to be successful). He has managed up to $40 Million projects and above. Believe me he is systematic in the approach being taken. Right now we are working on the login situation. I was actually able to log in to my account successfully several times this morning. Thank you so much for your advise....we really appreciate everyone's views.

Echoing these suggestions, I like to make lists from my Wants list of specific characters/movies, and that function has been broken for a while also :(

Only other thing I can think to suggest, is searching anything with an ' in it breaks the search. Like I can't search "Galaxy's Edge", but searching "Galaxy" just brings up so much other non-relevant options.

I also really like the idea of making the AP/PP option something to be more easily defined. Sometimes I accidentally add AP/PP pins to my trades when I don't mean to!

Thanks for being open to suggestions from the folks who actually use the site, and I am looking forward to any progress!

I’d love to see AP/PP be a subsection of the pin and not it’s own pin#..

As for pictures- it’s be nice if you could self update pictures (it was an option originally) but was removed and often great pictures were replaced by crappy ones after ownership disputes..

I agree with the AP/PP comments as well but I’d love for there to still be a way to put the AP/PP specifically as an ISO (since, personally, I am searching specifically for the AP versions of certain pins)

Not to mention the watermarks that were added to all photos. Most of the photos came from members of the community.
