If this is the case... then someone/a few people must have a monopoly over these LE Brave pins and have agreed to SLOWLY post them in the secondary market so that the prices remain high. There's no way 650 pins are sold out without other DPF members having some.

And as I had just posted this... that same person who had already sold 3 sets has just posted a set for BIN $295. Way to stick with the prices @#$*@#$*%!!!
 
Did anyone else here get the set without having to go through ebay?
 

I tend to agree- if there aren't any being traded, it's clearly an employee just making money....

Way to go Margaret! I knew it wasn't you that would spend that outrageous money, but I just couldn't believe that you got the Pixar set. Good luck on the DSF set. I'm sure you'll get it soon enough because you're such a great person and trader!
 
No they are not sold out. My friend's dad works at Pixar as a technical director and they still have them available as well as their Toy Story 3 pins.
 
I find it rather unfortunate that the few traders that do have A LOT of money spend these outrageous prices on pins. I can't imagine having a pin collection that is worth thousand upon thousands of dollars, not because you have so many pins, but because you were willing to pay through the nose for them. While it's your money and yours to spend, although in my opinion greed is not good and there are a million things you could be doing to help those less fortunate (no I don't mean buying pins for other traders) it is indeed yours to overspend on pins. I on the other hand am proud to say I've never spent more than $50 on a pin, and even that felt really decadent, and I still have a really wonderful collection.

To me it comes down to the people who have too much money and are too impatient to just wait. If no one paid these prices than sellers would lower the prices, but as long as pin traders keep buying pins, and we're not talking about pins that have been around for years (although again spending 300-500 on a single pin is crazy, in my opinion) but newly released pins than these pins are going to continue to sell for ridiculous prices. I know how badly it is to want a specific pin, but if we could all just be patient with these newly released pins than they will come down in price.

Pin trading/collecting is supposed to be fun. And I don't see how it can be fun when we're all overspending and stressing out over it. Let those people who seem to enjoy the competition aspect of trading, "I've got something, you don't have, neener, neener, neener" pay the big prices, while the rest of us wait until the hype has settled and the prices come down to something more reasonable.

When I first started pin trading it was so much fun, I loved going to Disney and trading off of lanyards, but now...well it's lost it's fun and it seems like this greedy competition most of the time, where no one wants to trade unless they're getting a better pin than they're offering. And CM lanyards are full of scrapper crap.

Let's all remind ourselves, "I can't have every pin." And for those people like swim2sea, who didn't have to pay a small fortune, congratulations for getting such a great pin at such a great price. I wish I knew your secret/had your connections.

I'm sorry if this seems a bit rantish but it makes me so sad to know that a few people are ruining the hobby for everyone else. I just want it to be fun again.
 
I seriously am beginning to feel like you need to be rich and/or have major connections to be able to obtain pins you really want. I'm devastated that I have yet to be able to obtain ANY of the DSF Brave pins, or the Pixar pins! My list of 'I'll never get this' is continuing to grow
 
personal opinion: The price will drop, and these pins will become more available in 6 months to a year. While they are Brave, and the are Pixar employee only pins. The LE is what? over 700 right? and personally, I think they are kinda boring looking. Wait for the hype to die down.
 
That's amazing money to sell pins for. Hopefully the price will go down, and also be sold by an ebay seller who ships internationally. I'm not too bothered about the logo pin but I very much want the Merida and bear pin, because pins of the big bear were what I wanted to collect most from the Brave film.
 
I was one of the lucky ones who caught the pins when the prices were still low (which still isn't exactly low low, but comparatively speaking anyway). The prices are crazy. But I will say that there are actually two sellers that I know of that were selling these pins at the crazy prices, rather than just one. I haven't looked to see which one has that ridiculous @#$ BIN going now, but I know one of the sellers told me that he just kept upping the price because they were flying off the shelves everytime he listed them no matter what the price was. So I agree with Psycho here. Let things die down a bit. If the pins sit there for a while, the sellers may not be so price crazy and we may see something closely resembling a reasonable price for these things. I'm new so I don't have a whole lot of experience here, but that's my two cents anyway.
 
Auctions are determined by bidders, if bidders will pay a lot than they'll go for a lot, but if bidders hold off, the prices will come down, so it really comes down to all of us, if people can just be patient, which is a lot coming from collectors, the prices will come down. But it's still astounding that people will pay that much for a silly pin. For a silly anything, I worked at a collectable shop during the Beanie Baby craze, talk about insanity. People really thought that they'd make a killing and be able to put their kids through college.

I guess I fall into the catagory of those who spend way to much on pins XD That being said then I collect UP and PTN pins and stitch so goes to show you have to spend more to get the ones you need. But then it all depends on what you collect, those that collet alot of multiple collections spread their money across a wide range of pins that vary in prices. But there are a few out there (how many I dont know) that only collect a select few themes so put their money into those small collections to finish it off.

Im very strict as to what I spend my money on, yes I have spent quite a bit but its got me all the pins I have wanted and now have a wants list of just 4 which are Japan LE100 pins so at least for me I can take a break and just keep up to date as there is no way I am starting a new collection as for me smaller collection the better as I dont know how other people cope with 5+ themes all at once XD

And I wouldnt say buying pins for ??? amount is greedy, its just they want that pin really badly.

But on topic those brave pins are not worth that much let alone $50, to those collecting Brave then good luck, I think y'all need it
 
So it seems my thought of people banding together to monopolize the Pixar Studio Store Brave pins isn't so far fetched. If anyone (like myself) has been following these pins on eBay, they're only up for grab one set at a time now. Thankfully the last person wasn't able to sell the set at an even lowered price of $275 from its original $295 listing (which I'm guessing was adding the 2 separate prices the pins last sold for of $202 and $92). But as soon as that listing ended without a buyer, another person has the audacity to list the set for buy-it-now $300 OBO! I hope no one bites so that we can let the price of these pins come down to earth a bit but I see there are 3 offers already made. This is depressing... If that set currently listed sells, then it's sure that if you don't have the money, you most likely won't have the pins. !@#$%^&*(*&^%$#
 
Man those prices are just bumming me out. It's really hard trying to be patient and waiting for the prices to drop or for even to hope they pop up with people trading them on pinpics.
 

Everyone send them an OBO of no more than $40
