PODM Releases
I think the four per person is a great idea. It's when you get groups of people that it becomes a problem. It gives you just enough to have options.
TBH I just think the DLR crowd is just a tad bit crazy. While I did get to DLR at 6:30, I tried doing everything as relaxed as I could.
That is stupid idea. Pin traders are making Disney a nice profit! I have heard you very recently in person say that you had to get a certain amount of money out of selling some pins in order for it to be worth it. So why are you complaining as if you don't do the same thing? I personally like the way disney does it you get handed 4-5 you pick the two you want. Who says the two you pick are going to be the cells that sell for hundreds on ebay. I know that the scene I picked for tangled I thought was gonna be good sure the heck is not the one that got sold for $400 but non the less it's what I like and that is what makes everyone's pin collection even that much better!
IsaacandAmanda said:Im glad my gal and I dont collect these pins. well she does but i dont. But I think the surprise release is a good idea. Might relieve some stress. Wristband is good. I wouldnt like if she didnt get picked to get any. I dont know. All ideas look good. Im still new so maybe I should keep my mouth shut
Wouldn't it be interesting if the CM's at the register would simply put two pins on the counter and give you a choice to buy them or pass? Oh that would make trading those really interesting, yes? It would certainly get rid of some of the Ebay sellers.
Feedback?
I don't think the problem was the way these were released. This release was particularly bad because it was Tangled which is really popular and because it was a holiday weekend so there were probably tons of out of town people there for this release that typically aren't there. So that explains the gobs of people.
The prices are a different story. Sure, with more people at the release the prices were sure to go up some, but something is fishy about some of these auctions. I think there is some major shill bidding going on. It seems to me that one or a few people banded together to drive the prices up and see just how much they could get for these. A scene ending very soon is way above an exact same scene that is BIN. So why would someone pay $100+ more for a pin they could buy for way cheaper right now? Oh, and the account driving up the price is also brand new.... It just doesn't make sense. I get that Tangled is popular but most cels were pretty decent. I think one of the worst PODMs released was Peter Pan because it had a lot of roof tops and cels with no characters. A good cel with Tinker was bringing $150 and there were a lot fewer of them available than the top scenes for Tangled.... I just there is some definite shadiness with these auctions...
Edit: Yep, definite shill bidding. I looked into it a particular seller's auctions that had extremely high bids. New seller, zero feed back. Five recently ended auctions. When you look at the bidders you will see a brand new account, also with zero feedback, driving the prices up. This same accout had bids on each and every one of this seller's completed auctions. And when you click on that bidder's ID it shows their bidding habits and that account has only bid on five auctions total. Now, why would a brand new account bid on all auctions from one seller with zero feedback when the same items are available BIN for cheaper from other sellers?
I strongly caution anyone considering dropping a lot of money on one of these pins to really think it through.
BUYER BEWARE - just in case anyone was thinking of going for the big Tangled PODM ending tomorrow be aware that the shill bidder is at it again. Only pay the high price if YOU think it is worth it and not because "the market" says it is worth it.
I have been watching that auction. In less than an hour it went from 100 to close to 400. Then I clicked the bidding history and was like "of course." Pretty awesome, pretty awesome.
