Hi I have a question about how pin sets are put up on pinpics and disneypins.com and how people on here put them in their Pinpics collection. I've been looking around at what Cars sets there are and I've found the mystery tin set and the cars 2 mystery collection.

On Pinpics I see generally the whole set and the individual pins are given as separate numbers so if you were to have half a set do you add the individual pins you have into your collection and then when you get the whole set add the 'whole collection' pin as part of your collection too?

And then on disneypins.com why do they sometimes have the individual pins and sometimes not? Is this just the way they're added or are there some rules I don't understand yet?:)

Thanks!

On Pinpics, if I only own 6 out of 10 pins in a set, I only add those 6 individual pins to my "owns".

Then I add the other 4 individual pins, and the set to my "wants".

Once I own the whole set, I keep the individual pins in my "owns", and add the whole set to my "owns".

If you do not own the whole set then I personally wouldnt add the whole set :) only add the pins that I have.
If I was to have the whole set, I would add both. Each inividual pin and then the set too.

If I purchased the set with the original packaging, I will add both the set and individual pins to my owns list. It helps with the "do I have this pin" scenarios that come up when I am perusing Ebay. If I have acquired the pins via trade and don't have the original packaging, I only add the individual pins to my owns, not the set. If a good deal comes up, I would replace the piecemeal set with a complete with original packing to help with the "is my pin authentic" question. Especially, with booster packs, deluxe lanyard and mini pin sets.

And then on disneypins.com why do they sometimes have the individual pins and sometimes not? Is this just the way they're added or are there some rules I don't understand yet?:)

Sometimes pins are sold both individually, or as part of a set (the set will usually have a completer pin). So the official site will list both of them. For example, this set came some in a box http://pinpics.com/cgi-bin/pin.cgi?pin=80323 but 6 of the 8 pins were also sold individually.

I add the whole set of pins to my owns list but as individual pins so I know how many pins I have as I personally wont add a set as its counted a 1 when it could be a set of 6. Everyone is different so whatever you choose will be fine for you.

Hey guys thanks for your help:) I see it's a personal choice really and there's no set rule I should be using.

As far as disneypins.com goes, whats the difference between http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=42945 where there are links to the individual pins and http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=56701 where there aren't. I see hopemax says that pins can be sold individually too but is this just a case of the pins being added different ways by different people? Sorry I'm a sucker for standard rules :P

That one may be a case, of one of the sets being from 2009 when they still cared about keeping the website up to date with as much info as possible, vs recently where they can barely get the pins up before the start of the month, so no extra info like pictures of the individual pins in a set.

I was wondering I was was doing it right; guess it just depends. I list all the pins from the set by themselves and list the set too, seems like a number of people do the same.
