puppy advice

awwwww... puppy!!!

as a prof dog groomer, lemmie give ya some totally unsolicited advice:

  • wait til puppy is about 7 or 8 weeks old before taking from momma, they learn to be a "dog" from momma and have more confidence as adults.
  • if its a pom mix.... start taking in for grooming visits at about 10 weeks old. poofy hair needs regular visits to keep it under control, and puppy needs to be used to grooming before the hair gets to long. Grooming can be a loud, scarey place, start young to get puppy used to it gently. I love the company I worked for, they have the best safety policies in the business. pm me if interested, I can also tell you "warning signs" for groom shops to avoid.
  • even little toy breeds need training. I promise your little one will be much happier with training in a big group setting for socialization and good citizenship. Puppys are like spounges, start young, 10-12 weeks or after first vaccine series.
  • Get puppy into a vet right away after you bring home. Health check is very important, and if buying, make sure you have a "healthy pet" garentee o.k?
