I have quite a few pretty good pins that I have for trade that I'd rather auction off, but seeing as how my current (and first) auction is doing, I'm not getting the greatest impression. I was told by so many people that auctions were an amazing way to get some new traders or things from your wants. My current auction (which most of you have probably seen and are sick of me bumping... heh) is for a Wall•E Stained Glass LE 250 pin. I've had three bids, two which have PODMs I want, but I guess I was just hoping for more bidding activity. I am constantly logging on anxious to see some bidding on my auction, but all I end up seeing are my bumps.

I intend on doing a little something special for each person that bids, as I know how frustrating it can be to bid and not win, but even then, I'm almost terrified to auction off my Jessica as Ursula pin and see myself receive some low-ball offers.

Sorry for the vent, I'm just a little uneasy with my first auction :(

I've been longing to participate in auctions, I just don't have much to bid! Also with so little to bid with, I'll only bid on things that fit my wants, and Wall-E just isn't my thing... :/

Lol... If you are very specific on what you want and people either don't have it or don't want to get rid of those particular pins then that means the auction most likely will flop... Trust me I'm there all the time... For example, I will only bid if I have something someone is specifically looking for or it is an open bid... I've noticed once the stakes are up, people start bringing in the pins you specified... This is my bidders perspective, I'm too afraid of a flop at auction to even start one... :eek2:

Oh I totally understand that. I wrote that I look for Tangled pins (and I don't have that many..), but that I was open to ALL pin offers since my collections really buckle down to Tangled, Alice in Wonderland, Marquees, and PODMs. I like having new traders or even things just to add to my collection. I'd like to think that I'm a fairly easy and reasonable person to trade with, but maybe not..? :|

I'm in the same boat, though I know my pin up for auction is not as rare. Although I can't figure out if it's simply that my pin isn't very exciting, or if it's some other reason. I mean, I didn't expect any crazy bidding, but maybe normal pins just don't get enough attention. :dunno:

I totally get why there is no reserve, but I sort of wish there was a rule where if your pin only gets a certain amount of bids you have the right not to auction it off or not, like 5 or less bids, as it doesn't seem like much of an auction if it's just 1 or 2 people. Then it's sort of a trade request

Just my 2 cents. I'd totally bid on your auction if I had anything of like value. Love that wall-e pin! =)

Being somewhat new Ive seen that if the pin that is up for auction is "high end" people tend to throw pins at you LOL (jessica might get more attention then your wall-e) but I would be scared too it was my pin. Honestly I would wait or look around for a fair trade that would have you doing the happy grail dance :) just my silly-nilly advice <3

Exactly!

But see that's my thing. You're even saying you'd bid if you had "anything of like value." But I really want it to be a pin ANYONE can bid on. I'm soo open to different offers and such. Oy. :( I like the excitement of seeing people bid. I've been watching auctions like crazy but never really had the guts to bid or start one. Now that I have it's just gone downhill. Hm..

I wish. But there's no retracting auctions once you have bids. :(

There have been a couple of auctions where the auctioneer specified you could bid anything. If that isn't specified, then I'm frankly afraid to bid if I don't have anything of like value, because of the sheer number of posts I've seen complaining that the person doing the auction will get stuck with less value for their pin. Anything I have to bid would be lowballing, and I don't want to be that girl.

Just an FYI I was planning to bid... but just like all auctions I have placed a bid on, I've waited for the last hour before making an offer I hope will take over the lead. So uhhhh... yeah... that was my master plan and now it's exposed into the air! Gahhhhhh

What?! How do you know!? Hey, I like Jack's compass and Cinderella's closet spinner! Hahah. :)

Hahaha! This made me chuckle a bit.. :p Well I do hope you bid (if it's a pin of your interest, of course!). I've been pretty eager for yours! ;)

@2infinty not sure if you saw this auction...40 MINS LEFT TO BID: Jumbo Jessica Rabbit as Ursula
Same pin and in my eyes some pretty cool offers ppl really tried for this pin and idk if they see another auction for the same pin they tried to get their hands on... LOL i want to so badly have my own auction but im scared too! :anxious:
Oh of course I saw it! She and I got zapped with the same pin on PTN when we went. Didn't you see my bid? ;) hahah! Yeah, after this, I'll probably try one more and if it flops, I'll take a bit of a hiatus from auction starting... ha.

Yeah, I just never have the guts to bid either because I figure it won't win, or afraid people will think my bid is silly. But I guess there is no harm in trying! ;)

I can definitely sympathize with you on that. That's why I would never bid, but now I don't care. Might as well try! :)

You're definitely not the only one. Certain people have a following when it comes to auctions, but I'm lucky if I get 3 bids on any one of my auctions! There's one right now that's about to end tomorrow that has no bids, and like I told you I'm afraid someone will go in and bid a hidden mickey or something and win :(
I tried to bid something 'fair' on your auction, and I know how frustrating it can be to see other people's auctions do really well and be bummed out when yours doesn't do as well.

Ugh you must know how close that one was. I just know that those spare pins ashkai included will hopefully get me something else for maybe my Alice collection that I need. I LOVE all of your scenes though! So pretty!

I'll probably bid I'm just waiting a little and trying to decide what I want to bid. I would hold it and get something you really want for it.

If I could at this point, I would... Haha. I mean I'm happy with the PODMs that have been bidded! But I would DEFINITELY like to see some Tangled! heh..

HEE. Okay good point. But Wall-E still isn't my thing. There has to be a match-up of people who both want the pin and have stuff worth bidding... and I have zero idea how to predict how many people will want a pin. I have some things listed as traders that I'll only part with for a pin I really want, and a lot of the auctions just aren't things I care for. I guess when I have more traders, I'll be willing to bid on things that I'll use for other traders...

Mostly I just hope people don't get discouraged with doing pin auctions, because they look like so much fun to be in and they are so much fun to watch. Soon as I get enough of a traders list going, I want to hop in. But I do understand it's a total gamble on the auctioneer's part, and that it might not feel like it's worth the risk.

I bid my little sister if you do auction off ursula, LOL she is great at holding your place in line at pin releases and for being able to purchase an extra set of pins if you need more then your allowed to buy :) haha jk

Sadly, I would love to bid on your pins but I've been over your wants at least twice and have nothing to offer. I would bid except I wouldn't want to trade you a pin that you may have to accept that would not result in a fair trade.

I'm sure the Jessica as Ursula pin would spark a lot more auction activity though. I would LOOOOOVE to bid on the Jessica pin, but again, nada to offer. Don't give up hope! Those tangled and marquee pins will be yours someday! :)
