Is there a particular day that traders tend to show up with their books? We saw a TON today at Epcot...were we just lucky? I got to look at a lot of pins. There was one guy who had a book full of the really common hidden mickeys, but bless him, he had the patience of a SAINT with the kids. Super nice too, he had pages full of duplicates and was letting kids trade any HM they had for one from those pages--to me they all looked genuine, they were just the very commonplace ones, but I thought it was nice of him to pretty much let the kids have free reign on those. He was educating all the kiddos on their characters
 
Oh that's really nice! When I went I saw someone who every time a kid came by and asked they got kind of nasty about it and said that they didn't have anything worth trading anyway, so no. It made me sad. But I'm glad that there are some who "suffer the little children." ;P

The kids can be the most fun to trade with because they really like the pins they get because they like the pins they like and don't care about what they are worth!!!
 
There was one guy, he had a lot of LE and other more valuable pins, but he was being polite to the kids. He was getting irritated, because he was getting swarmed, but he wasn't nasty about it. We had a nice time looking through everyone's books and just chatting with them

I agree! We almost always only have pins we're trading away on our lanyards anyhow, and we try to always keep a couple of princesses on ours, my hubby and son are suckers, and if a little princess asks, it doesn't matter what they are asking, they get it lol. A little girl could ask them to trade a gum wrapper for a pin and they'd get it. I felt really bad one time on the monorail, a couple kids were looking at our lanyards and their mom was telling them "no don't bother the people, they don't want to trade those nice pins for these." It made me feel bad because has it really come to that? It turned out the kids had apparently had a run in with one nasty trader the day before--their very first time at MK too . We only had pins we wanted to trade away anyhow at that point, so all three of us wound up trading with the kids. I know you're only "supposed" to have one book at the tables, but I liked the one guy, he had two books, and was very clear (but extremely nice) about the fact that one was the harder to trade for LE's and such, and the other was a free-for-all.
 
I'm happy there are nice people who will trade anything. I hate when pin sharks practically insult me and pretty much saying my pins were crappy. I told one trader at Epcot that I have limited editions, but before he could let me finish, he was like "Bring those! That's the good stuff. Not this cheap stuff you have." I was highly insulted and a majority of my "good" pins were gifts. He acted like a child in front of everyone, so I told him "you're never happy" after numerous offers when I tried to get a Gaston pin from him.
 

I believe we also had a great dealing with this gentleman. He had a book for the kids and a book of LE's for us to look through.


Dealt with this someone like this also. Treated my kids like crap but when my wife walked over with her lanyard with her PTD Rapunzel he sure tried to change his tune.
 
My boyfriend got upset when I told him because at the time, he had just given me a Pegasus pin that was limited edition and I'd NEVER trade it and the shark was pushing me to bring that, some LE Little Mermaid ones that I had, and anything else that was considered the "good stuff." My "good" pins were gifts from friends and family members, so they're off limits. I have no problem with ANYONE coming up to me with a pin they want and I'll give it to them even if there's nothing I want from them. I'll take whatever pin they give me and simply trade it away for something else.
 
I have actually stopped even going up to the people at the tables at Epcot. Every stinking time I am there they won't even LOOK at my pins. I even brought my Cruella Designer Villian AND my Enchanted Jumbo, just to see if any of them would be interested in trading....no one would even look at my book and said that they were just interested in trading for the Epcot FLower and garden LE pins that you had to buy at the store. No bueno. It takes the trading FUN out of pin TRADING.
 
We went and set up 'shop' one day last week and had a much better time than expected.. We were only going to stay an hour or so but ended up staying about 5..

We brought a 'pin for a pin' book which we found helps with the 'new-not familiar with value' trades so we dont have to say no as much..

We plan to go back again soon

I love to trade with the kids. I always where a lanyard with pins I am willing to trade. I am also a sucker for the kids and will trade for anything, and sometimes nothing. It is what trading is about. I love to see kids happy faces and try to keep a wide variety of pins so they have a lot to choose from.
