My favorite under-appreciated Disney films are The Three Lives of Thomasina and The Incredible Journey. They are old live action animal movies that not nearly enough people have even heard of.

As far as animated Disney movies go, the first ones that come to mind (out of my favorites) are Rescuers Down Under, Treasure Planet, and the Sword in the Stone - But I feel like they’re all finally getting more of the attention they deserve!

The Ugly Daschund. No one has ever heard of it and I feel like so many dog lovers would appreciate it.

    I LOVE that movie!!!

For me, most of my favorites are unknown live action “classics”:
    The Happiest Millionaire
    The Cat from Outer Space
    The North Avenue Irregulars
    Summer Magic
    Follow Me Boys
Bedknobs and Broomsticks (This is a better known movie, but still underrated and a fave!)
    The Misadventures of Merlin Jones
    The Monkey’s Uncle

Gosh, so many of them. I know I’m forgetting a lot. Mostly back when Disney was making family movies and just had that special magic.

When I was younger and a movie night consisted of our family heading down to Blockbuster, Hollywood Video, or maybe some of you Bay Area collectors remember when Safeway used to have a VHS rental section. We would pick out a movie bring them back home. Then have to rewind them because no one ever did before they returned them.

So when it would come time for my movie everyone would get bummed because I would always pick between 2 movies Newsies and Swiss Family Rodinson. Then it turned in to kids watch there own movies in the other room. Lol.

I think I appreciate my main Toad enough so it can't be considered underappreciated.

But my all-time favorite, nostalgia, movie that any level of appreciation can't be enough is.......

Darby O'Gill and The Little People!

Featuring a young Sean Connery, pre-James Bond

Not sure if he is actually singing or not....dubbing was prevalent back then

I wanted Big Red (Irish Setter).
I settled for my dog Fang, (1/2 German Shepard 1/2 Alaskan Husky) together we ran the forests of Central Oregon.

As a Disney dog, Big Red gets no respect, and no pin.

Are they really that unknown? Maybe I had a really weird childhood (it might come from having a father who really despises animation), but I grew up watching many of these Disney live action movies along with both classic and new release animated films.

    Oh My Gosh!!!

I'm so glad some mentioned The Ugly Dachshund and I literally can't believe someone mentioned The Three Lives of Thomasina. I once was playing a Disney word game and when we came to "T" the group accused me of lying, I had to pull it up my phone to settle it.

DPF is really filled with my kind of people

As far as underappreciated Disney movies, I feel, almost all the old live action movies are completely unknown. Outside of Mary Poppins, Old Yeller, and The Love Bug(Herbie) most have never heard of, let alone seen, any of them; this also, sadly, can sometimes include the three I just mentioned. Because of this I grew up knowing I had a unique childhood when it came to movies. Complete 90's kid who by the time I was seven had scene all of the movies previously mentioned in this post and more. By the time I was in the third grade and heard people say they had scene "every" Disney movie , I learned they meant everything since The Little Mermaid to current; with the exception of maybe Snow white and Peter Pan thrown in. But I digress.

My favorite underappreciated live action movies include:
    -The Ugly Dachshund
    - Pollyanna
    -The Swiss Family Robinson
    -Johnny Tremain

My favorite underappreciated animated movies include:
-The Adventures of Ichabod Crane and Mr Toad (especially Ichabod)
    -The Great Mouse Detective
-Aladdin and the King of Thieves
-Silly Symphonies (I know its not a movie but there so great and most people have never seen them)

Yes, it’s kind of like what Mike_Mouse said. I chat with lots of Disney fans who have never heard of those movies - people my age, not the younger generation. Disney channel showed these a lot and I fell in love with them!

You’re starting college. Misadventures of Merlin Jones and its sequel The Monkey’s Uncle might be fun for you. They star Tommy Kirk (Old Yeller, Swiss Family Robinson) and Annette Funicello as, well, two kids in college. :D They’re comedies.

That is crazy, I thought you looked young but I thought you were at least in college. When I was your age I would have never joined a forum like this. I would have been too scarred to talk to people, even through a computer.

I'm sure it's a generational thing, I just talk to random people online on a whim lol. Also it's a forum full of Disney fans so not too worried about the people lol.

I haven't seen it in years, but when I was little I watched The Apple Dumpling Gang a lot, as well as Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Swiss Family Robinson (I really, really wanted to ride an ostrich and a zebra!).

My favorite underrated animated movies are Sword in the Stone, Bolt, Back Cauldron, Rescuers Down Under, Great Mouse Detective, and Meet the Robinsons. I would add Emperor's New Groove to the list but I think that it's gotten a lot of love and attention in the last few years, in no small part thanks to meme culture.

I feel sad a whole generation is missing out on the ugly daschund. As many remakes as Disney does, this one I feel like would be so marketable still if they remade it.

Flight of the navigator! Yes! Has anyone mentioned That Darn Cat? (the original one)

And I must also say (although I'm glad for pin's sake) this one:
