UPDATE: i got my globe!! eyes a little watery. ; u; later post will explain things. thank you for the support guys. <3 not sure now to delete the thread or change the title to something like "closed"?

i need to talk it out with someone.

honestly. i have been looking for an item for a year. a year filled with complications on ebay, craigslist, whatever. so close and then bam, no cigar (who said this?)

then it pops on ebay and of course it doesn't ship to canada. why would it?
and the seller is not being responsive.

...
i need the tracking number. economy shipping doesn't come with that. i need it to be shipped to a u.s. service but...

anyone had similar "issues"? i'm just sadden that i write long and descriptive emails hoping to persuade the seller but i don't even get a reply. not even a "no, i'm sorry, i can't do that, good luck". and i guess i shouldn't really expect such treatment but it sucks, because i don't know the next time the item will pop up or what condition it would be. snow globes and all that.

alkjsdklasjdklsajkldjaldjalka

edit: my gravy, i sound... a taaaaad whiny. sorry guys. just... rough day. still getting used to the website so sorry if i posted my aslkdjaklsdja in the wrong forum. just gotta be patient though right?

LIGHT AND BRIGHT QUESTION: do you collect one particular character's merchandise? so like ariel from little mermaid but not eric, flounder, sebastian, ursula or any other characters. just ariel. just gorgeous ariel. well, not saying flounder isn't gorgeous! ;D

urgh, i angrily wrote this and a minute later was like "URGH, NO. WHY DID I DO THIS".

i guess... uh. question for you would be if you collected a specific character merchandise outside disney? one character. o;

Do you live near the border? I'm in Toronto so I ask sellers who won't ship to Canada if they'll ship to a UPS depot. If they do I get it sent to one in buffalo (90 minute drive) and pick it up for $5 a package and $1 a day for storage. Some sellers won't want to because they'll need a confirmed address for paypal.

Likewise I do this when I shop DS to get the free shipping

then bam, no cigar (who said this?)

I found this...
...here http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/close-but-no-cigar.html

the seller is not replying. i would need a tracking number and since economy shipping doesn't have it, i need to ask the seller. but as mentioned before, seller is not responsive. so exists my dilemma.

I completely understand! I've had sellers not message back about that issue, or even one where I said I would pay whatever the cost to add tracking, only to have him come back and say tracking was too expensive and he didn't add it (and I never got the package).

I hope hope they respond soon!

Do you have someone you could have it shipped to in the states and then have them send it to you in Canada?

Keep in mind that the seller may be dealing with personal issues beyond their control. I had an awful situation like the one you are having once. I found an awesome anime figure online that I had been wanting for a long time, and I finally had enough money to get it. When I bought it the seller said she would ship it out the following Monday. Monday came and nothing happened. Then Tuesday came and still nothing happened. I messaged her that whole week and she never once responded. I had never had a problem with sellers on eBay like that so I was getting rather frustrated. I finally emailed her saying I was opening a case with eBay if she wouldn't respond. I even texted her because she gave me her phone number when I bought it and said to call her if there were any problems. A week and a half had passed and I finally filed a complaint. The next day she messaged me saying I was an #$%hole because she has cancer and has to go to the hospital a lot with no way to check her eBay account. You could argue that I had no way of knowing that because she gave no notice when I bought the item nor was it in her profile, but she was still mad. Needless to say she canceled my order and told me to never do business with her again. Believe me when I say that I felt like crap afterwards. It bothered me pretty bad. So just always keep in mind that the seller may be dealing with issues beyond their control and that may be why you are getting no response.

i had a seller who was dealing with "computer issues" but i waited a month for my item. i contacted her, gave her enough time to reply and filled a complaint.
it's just... and at that time, i think i thought about an assignment for school. my teachers always told us that computer problems were always happening. and i remember having my computer shutting down completely and not starting back up, but i went to the library and coffee shop, and finished my research.

i understand there are personal issues and situations, but i also think it's important to notify people. like for work, you wouldn't just disappear for a week without an explanation, even a short one.

i'm really sorry that happened to you. but... and i might sound heartless and inconsiderate but i think they shouldn't have called you that. you don't know what's happening in their lives and since sites do have various scammers and just... people who don't really send you things at all... i just... urgh.

when dealing with other people's money and all, that should be taken seriously (i'm sure there is a different way to word this, and i'm not saying sellers do not take it seriously).

also, i should mention that i SEE the seller posting new items. if they have time to do that, surely they have time to tell me "yes" or "no", right?

i hope i didn't step on anyone's toes, i'm always trying to be considerate to both sides... ; u;

the problem is in the tracking. most services need a tracking number and i can't exactly go to the states every weekend hoping they will get it. i need some sort of way to track it myself. but i am contacting some services to see if they NEED the tracking number. <3

i don't think this will pan out. i can't even ask the seller if they are willing to ship to a us/canada parcel service in the states. and i don't know if they will have to pay international sale fees because of my canadian card on paypal.

i wouldn't be so frustrated if things like this didn't happen one after the other.

edit: i'm super not cut out for collecting things. lol not like i had my eyes trained on anything else for the past year other than this.

edit: yes, i would even be happy with a "no". cause then, at least i know.

but heeeeey, keeping the thread light and bright while i research and hope for a response.

do you collect any particular character merchandise? so like... i don't know. eve from wall-e, or ariel from little mermaid, or eric from little mermaid (cause he's hunky dory haha!) or anna from frozen?

Have you shipped to a service before? I've done it quite a few times and I've never had the seller compain that they have had to pay fees because of my Canadian card on paypal, so I think that's one less thing to worry about

How long has it been since you've written? Hopefully something just came up and they have been unable to check.

I don't really collect any specific characters, pretty much just anything I think is neat. What about you?

oh i see. and you didn't call your bank to add a secondary address right in order to purchase something on a us only listing? a forum mentioned that. a forum mentioned the fees too, that's why i'm wondering about that, since i guess it counts as an international sale.

and no, no i haven't. i usually just ask if the seller would be kind enough to just ship it straight to canada.

4 days ago. i wrote to them before though too.

i collect alice things, although this particular item is not alice-related. for particular characters, not really. although if i did collect outside of what i'm collecting now, which is mostly pixar items, it would probably be like... ursula. she be boooooss.

I think you were considerate of both sides . Yeah its true that she should have gave a notice or left some kind of warning when I bought the item, but it just bothered me pretty bad. I remember being depressed for a week or so it got to me so bad. Just never assume that they are ignoring you for no reason because they may just be busy or dealing with issues. But believe me when I say I greatly understand your frustration.

yay. c:

D: that must have been tough. D: something like that... i would probably get chest pains, as i do sometimes when i feel super overwhelmed or depressed or some other strong negative emotion. but that really must have been tough to read.

that person who had computer issues never replied to me and although i felt bad and tried to see it from their perspective (maybe they didn't have a local library that they could go to, maybe they were busy, maybe etc), i didn't feel like waiting another month for my item and having the ebay protection thing expire (i remember it gave me until a certain day to file a case). </3

ANYWAY.
<3
it's just... the item means a lot to me personally so when i write long emails explaining how much i would like it have it and how i am willing to negotiate and how i am very sorry for the bother and if they find it rude that i am contacting them, i am sorry, at least i would want a "no". at least then i know. i'm not entitled to a response, i know. i shouldn't wait for it either, but a small part of me does and then stupidly gets angry when they don't reply.

... ok, i think i wrote enough. LOL

OH, and there was an user who wanted to know what the item was! i can't find their post now! D: i'm sorry for not replying to you, i thought i did.

i don't really wanted to say, because i had a horrible paranoia that i might jinx it or that someone might buy it.

i still don't really want to jinx what's happening now - ie, there has been some developments. i want to update this thread but after so many super encounters with said item and after sooooo many supppper "oh, this slipped out my hands, again." moments, i don't want to do anything to upset any balance anywhere.

if you would like, i will update soon when i know more. crossing every part of my body hoping this will work out.

THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT AND KIND WORDS AND HELPFUL TIPS. YOU GUYS ARE SO AWESOME AND WELCOMING. THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE IT! <3

UPDAAAAAATE!

i got my globe! oh my god. oooooooooooooh!

so i've been hunting for a snow globe for a year. there were listings of it but i either couldn't afford it (that one time) or had difficulty shipping it to canada. i let one get away because of my stupidity on ebay. finally got it though. i was really worried because the seller was not responding. i had a bad experience once with a seller but try to give benefit of the doubt. i had a rough time cause i was like "here we go agaaaaaaaain with the complications!" and was going a bit mad. this globe means a lot to me for personal reasons. so i was like "omg, what if it comes broken, what if it's not sent at all, what if it gets lost somewhere and it doesn't get to the service, what then?" finally, i bought it. i just had to. it was taunting me. I DREAMT ABOUT IT. IS THAT WEIRD? i dreamt about it a few times actually. anyway, it was shipped fast. i bought it this week and i have it already. "DELIVERED" no way. nooooo waaaaaay. so my parents went to pick it up along with another package. i was studying. they get home, i go through so much packaging (there was soooo much), and voila! my globe! my glooooooobe!

it doesn't have a lot of water in it but it has enough to submerge the characters inside. whatever. i got it. the globe has no scratches so that's a super plus. i rather have little water than a scratchy globe. besides, the way i see it, i will get it fixed eventually and it will have a full load of water, rather than that little bubble of air that i have in my alice globe. the music plays fantastically too!

OH. and for those of you who are like "WHAT SNOW GLOBE IS IT? URGH!" i don't really want to say because i don't want to possibly bring negative attention to the seller. i was frustrated and anxious. i don't think i wrote anything particularly bad about the seller but i wasn't really impressed with his lack of communication. but i get it, honestly, some sellers don't like to reply. it was just the item that i really really really wanted and i was frustrated that i was put in that position with this particular item that i was searching for. sellers who i have asked if they had it replied so i was a little anxious and scared. i don't want to take that chance though because he trusted ME as a buyer and sent it to the service. he came through though and i am grateful. perhaps when the listing expires from the likes of ebay, i shall post a picture of it.

but it could be considered my grail...? if i'm understanding the definition of grail correctly. it's a globe of my favorite scene and is rare (although not super super rare like another snow globe from the same series).

i. am. so. happy. so happy. singing along with the tune that it plays. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL!

thank you guys for commenting and browsing this thread. <3 i appreciate your helpful comments and encouragements and tips. thank you again and i hope you find your grails soon as well. <3

now off to study. c:

Yay! Congratulations on finally getting the snow globe you wanted! Still it kinda sucks about the lack of water in it though. But im sure you can take it somewhere to get more water put in it like you said. Again congrats!

thank you!

i have it on top of my computer desk at the moment, so from the angle that i'm sitting at, it doesn't look like it has the big air bubble. especially because the globe was made in the mid 90s, it doesn't really bother me. the water covers the characters. it's in fantastic condition with barely any scratches on it, so i'm insanely happy. <3

perhaps i will get it repaired someday. i'm not really keen on doing it now because it costs a lot (i might have to ship it somewhere in the states) and i am afraid it might break in the process of someone fixing it. </3 i will probably get it fixed in a few years.

thank you for commenting on this thread! i enjoyed our conversations! thanks! c:
