What Happened to the SKU Numbers on Stitch Be My Valentine Set??

I just noticed that the SKU numbers for the Disney Shipping Stitch Be My Valentine (Pinpics 67922) cross-over set is missing from Pinpics.

Anyone know anything?

I think Stitch w/Alice is SKU 98980...but I want to make sure. Anyone?
 
They were never there. I added Stitch with Belle, Sleeping Beauty, and Lady and the skew was 66678 which is still on the listing. The people that added the other pins didn't put the skew in.

Well I don't know what to tell you then. I noticed they were gone a long long time ago. When I was trading away my extra sets I was trying to match the cards up to them and had to go to my listings to find the skews.

When the original listings were posted they were with the concept art so maybe the skews that were put in the other listings originally were wrong and later removed. I know the pictures were updated with pics I sent in.

If you have a print out I'd be interested in seeing it. Can you scan and post it?
 
Yes, I can do that. I just can't see from the page that I have - where it shows what date it was printed... looking to see if there is a way to do that now. It comes from someone who did a database shot of Pinpics each year. It doesn't show any updates, just the date the listing was added.
 
Regardless off the sku numbers, I am 99% sure that SB an Alice have been scrappered. SB showed up on Ebay at least 10 times from the same elite (!) seller.

Most of them were last updated on Updated 2009-02-02 08:40:26 which is probably when they added the new pictures and removed incorrect skews. This is a total guess, but my hunch is that that missing skews may have been put in with the "cheat" number people used to look up the pin previews. It may not have been the same as the actual skew or something like that and then was removed when it was discovered that it was incorrect. Why the correct one was never put in, I have no idea. But I know that they have been missing from the listings I didn't add for well over a year because that is when I was looking for them.

As far as some of them being scrapped, I hadn't heard anything about that but I do see the pins you are talking about. Them popping up frequently isn't always an indication because they may not have sold and are just being relisted. Or sometimes you can tell there is a new account driving up the price and then they might back out so even if you see it as sold that may have fallen through. That doesn't appear to be the case here though, they do seem odd.
 
As far as I know, she also makes second chance offers because it was discussed in a thread here a while back. If you comb through her fb, you see that people actually purchased and left fb. I know at least one member here who purchased from that seller and sent it back.

Another query: I know when I asked this question, Pinpics read: Unknown for the SKUs of the set. Now, some of the SKUs were added (you can see the date of Mar 22, 2012 at the bottom); but why didn't the added info bump the pins to the top in the "What's New" list?

As an side: Someone put the wrong SKU in for Alice/Stitch - the SKU is the same for the entire set.
 

I agree with this completely.

However, that being said, the same person who was selling bad Jessica as Alice, has been doing various repeats of the Sleeping Beauty Stitch -all without card of course.

As an aside - if you note on an older post here on the boards, I did purchase the bad Jessica as Alice from these people AND I did leave them a negative to alert others about the bad pin.
 


I didn't think backend changes bumped pins to the What's New page. I thought that was just commentary. At it may be glitchy anyways. I know I've commented on pins before but they didn't get bumped to What's New right away.

Yours was a brave move, but I was not talking about the Jessica as Alice pin.

I know someone who purchased the SB with Stitch pin. The said person announced winning that particular auction here on DPF as their intention was to trade it. That post got responses from 2 more members here. They were bidding on the same pin. They both mentioned that they received second chance offers.

I checked with the winner of that said auction (sometime past summer) later and he told me that he returned it as the pin had defects.

Another member here bought Stitch/Tron pin from the same seller and returned it yet again. And another got Jessica as evil queen and returned it too. In fact, we have a whole thread here on Jessica as Evil Queen pin.

People are happy just getting their $$ back and they go their merry way w/o leaving neg. fb I guess.

In the past, all changes made to the database bumped pins to the "What's New" page.

How do you know that? I think that is something Britt or Figgy would need to confirm. With thousands and thousands of pins in the database it would be impossible to know if all changes that occurred caused a bump to the What's New page. For all we know, if they felt the update was relevant they could have bumped it but if it is a minor change they just left it alone. I think only they can answer this question.
 

I know that when I've updated my groups and pins in the past it's bumped them immediately to the 'What's New' page. What I'm not positive of is exactly what information you have to update to make it go there. If you don't add the pin you cannot change the SKU, Date of Release, Retired, etc. You can only add a picture. Anyone can add comments though and this does bump the pin back to the 'What's New' page. If you don't believe me try it. If you add a pin to a public group this also pushes the pin to the 'What's New' page. How do I know this? I have helped out at Pinpics for years and have public groups, no I'm not a mod. I have sent Figgy a text and will let you all know about which items force the pins to What's New.
 
Just talked to Figgy and she said that she thinks that the pin got moved if information was added ie, comment, picture, etc. She's not 100% sure because she hasn't made any changes to the database in a really long time. So there you have it.
 

I wasn't trying to say I didn't believe you. I know comments bump pins to teh What's New Page. But, what I'm trying to say is that the changes you are describing aren't really what I consider "Backend Changes". I mean, I don't know how the Pinpics Database works, but those are all changes that I'd consider to be frontend user changes. By backend I mean going straight to the tables where the data is stored and changing it there rather than through a user interface. I don't even know if they can do that, but if they could I would assume it wouldn't trigger the same reactions a frondend change would.
 
Well, I think that is where the concern started...couple of days ago the SKUs were listed as "Unknown." After my post here, several of the SKUs were added. But unlike other times when SKU details are added, the entry didn't get bumped.

The stranger part to me -why would correct SKU numbers be listed there, and then at some point removed? What purpose is there to removing the SKU, as it wasn't wrong before? (I do get why to add them when it was pointed out).

And for the record, I was completely against Pinpics adding SKUs in the first place (It wasn't done in the beginning). However, that being said -I would love to be able to search by SKU as I have a box of black cards and no idea what pins they go to.
 
If you use Google, you can search by SKU. On Google's search page, put in the number and then add site:www.pinpics.com Sometimes its best to use a partial SKU because some people added the 4000 front part, while others just used the end.
 

I don't really understand why it is a concern. The SKUs may have been added in the backed after seeing this conversation and not by the person that made the listing which may explain why it didn't get bumped. And why would we want it bumped anyway? The SKU is pretty worthless information unless you are trying to match up the card and therefore I don't think it is really "What's New" worthy. If every tiny update was bumped that would be really annoying.

And I'm still not convinced the SKU was ever right. You said you had a screen print, but in your initial post you said what you thought the SKU was and I don't think that is the right one. So, if it was correct at one point and you had a screen print, wouldn't you have known the correct SKU? This just isnt making sense to me. I see no reason whatsoever to be concerned by this.

The concern is that information has been removed from Pinpics (sometime in 2010).

There are now questioned versions of several of those pins out there.

Hypthetically - if one put the fake on any 'ol backing, the buyer would have no idea why they are being duped because it cannot be verified.

And, without saying more to avoid a riot -this related to my concerns about the new owners of Pinpics and their motivations in changing items within the database for sinister purposes.
