What Happened to the SKU Numbers on Stitch Be My Valentine Set??


Those particular SKUs were wrong/missing long before LANSAM was in the picture. Conflating the two is not valid.

And since I get called out for proof, can I ask what is yours?

After 2010 until now, is a period when Lansam was involved. I cannot just pinpoint the exact date the SKUs were removed. But, it was odd when they were returned this week -that nothing was bumped. So how many other things have been changed without a bump?

This is a valid concern.

But when we were visiting DLR last Dec. a friend (who is also on DPF) mentioned to me few things about an Ebay seller who is known to produce his own copies of LE pins. If the rumors are true, this person (with 2 well known Ebay ids) is starting to produce his own packaging as well.

Think about it ... For someone who has the means to duplicate metal pins, how hard would it be to print a sticky label with numbers on it? IMO if the SKU numbers are available on Pinpics, those crooks are getting spoon-fed.

I realize that the issue here is different, and you are concerned about if and why those numbers were first removed and then added. But I am not able to see how having the correct SKU numbers on Pinpics would aid to avoid scrappers.

Just to add, when I couldnt upload a picture of a pin I added as my photo was to big, I sent the picture to pinpics email and they uploaded it for me but the pin didnt get bumped up to page 1. It stayed on page 4/5 so I dont think everything is bumped up.
 

I obviously can't prove it, nor do I have to because I'm not the one making accusations. And i never said i had proof, i said i remeber them not being there a long time ago. You are the one that said you had a screen print and would provide it, so where is it? Isn't it supposed to be "presumed innosent until proven guilty"? Burden of proof is on the accuser, so if that's what you are trying to accomplish here, I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

I think this discussion relating to these pins is silly. Like Selen said, if a person has the resources to counterfeit an actual pin I'm sure they could find the resources to counterfeit a sticker with a number on it.

You haven't proved they were ever there, I can't prove that they weren't, so I don't see the point in all of this other than to get speculation going again. Im letting this go as I don't see a valid point to this discussion and I don't want to bump this up anymore.

Just so everyone here knows, the SKU numbers have been typed in wrong by other traders a lot of times. There are times one or two numbers have been missing. As soon as someone discovers it, they let pinpics know, and they correct this. There was a time when everyone seemed to be in such a hurry to be the one to add the new pins in, and these traders made a lot of mistakes, and left out too much valuable information too. Now the problems for these hurried listings are surfacing.

And I also noticed that when I correct something on pinpics, it is not getting bumped to new like in the past, so if you want it bumped, then write what's new on your additional information, and it should get bumped.
 
Okay...truth be told on SKUs. There was a group that was against SKUs being put in Pinpics, in the first place. At the time, counterfeits were not an issue, and it was seen as burdensome to match the same boring black cards to the pins. Remember -everyone traded out of pin books. so the pins were all off the card.

That being said, during those days -in protest, many SKU numbers are actually people's phone numbers. I know of one Holy Grail that still has a phone number right now. So, SKUs are not reliable on Pinpics either.

As another aside, often on dual released pins,the SKU would be different and many SKUs are not listed for each and every park the pin was released in.

I believe you're the one being hostile with that statement and calling someone a troll for bringing up valid concerns in our hobby is just rude. Shame on you.
 
Tiggernut, I do remember everyone trading out of pin books and no one even asking about the cards years ago, and I agree about the dual released pins having different SKU numbers for the same pin. I did not know the SKU numbers were not being listed on purpose as a result of a protest. I also remember that SKU numbers were not even important to me in the old days.

However, I have checked several SKU numbers when others have questioned one, and found the number to have been a typo. So you have a mixed bag there when trying to figure out why SKU numbers are not correct. It can be typos, old time protesters based on what you said, and Disney issuing different release numbers when there are multiple locations for the same pin release. And then there were people that used the item number to search for the pins on DS as SKU numbers. So SKU numbers are definitely not a reliable source when trying to verify something about a specific pin.
