I didn't visit WDW until 1995, so this predates me.

Yes, it is a playground thingy...at what is now the Marketplace section of Disney Springs. I found this map. Look for G, that's the Captain's Tower which is now the current pin store. I think E is the current TrenD - Co-Op - Guest Services building. D would then be Ghirardelli's
