Lansam why would you remove the Q&A thread and the chat log?

They removed it because they didn't want anymore drama to continue. Everyone had a chance to read it and now it is down. They said they will be having another chat soon.

I hadn't read it yet. This has been a busy week for me, and I WAS interested in reading it, so this is very disappointing. If there were comments being made that led to it's disappearance, why didn't they make it a read-only post?

I was unaware that 48hrs, was established as enough time for everyone to read those threads and get caught up on everything.

On a side note I was shocked to see that they removed this same thread I started on pintalk without an explanation.

I didn't get a chance to read it at all as I Just returned from my WDW trip this morning :/

If I was a betting man, I'd think that for every one person who wants to see those threads, there are three people complaining about the drama. Most folks come to the forums to get a pin fix, and I suppose that the threads were ruining it. This is just my opinion.

The same thing happened here on DPF. Threads were created, became nasty, caused complaints, got deleted, caused more drama, and then were reinstated. Folks on both sides complain that they're unhappy no matter what decisions the mods make. This is pretty typical when one attempts to provide a free service to a community made up of individuals with a bunch of different personal goals, and Lansam is still developing its own comfort levels in responding to the feedback.

One thing that's certain is Lansam didn't anticipate this level of mixed support and animosity, and are still getting their sea legs in learning to deal with it. In the meantime, they'd like Pin Talk to stay positive and drama-free and I can't say that I blame them.

I don't really care much for the drama, but it's the price you pay for having an open forum. Positive and drama-free are great, but you can't mandate them. Removing drama-filled posts doesn't stop the drama, but it often stops the flow of information. I suppose ignorance is bliss, but suffering brings knowledge (I'm just channeling my freshman composition professor, now).

I really hope people can just settle down for a while and just see what is in store first before they get worked up over something that might/might not happen.

AGREED 100%! Well stated, Laz!

I agree with you Laz, and maybe even a step further. No need for the entire chat just a thread like they did for the pm ??'s. In other words just post a thread with persons question and Lansam's answers. As you said even lock it so it is a read only, but just leave the info up there for people to read.

well just like T.V. you dont have to tune into any thread you dont want to. I am a bit of a libertarian in that unless it gets vile, discussion, even heated...is cool. I think they should have at LEAST left them ther til the weekend. Many people are actually super busy and that would have been nice of them. anywho---this to shall pass. TRADE ON:salute:

I was in the chat and it was a hot mess. Honestly, I don't think it was all that helpful and not really worth the time it would take you to wade through it. We really didn't find out much more than we already knew except for the one item that threw everyone into a hissyfit. Whith that being said, I think I saved a copy if anyone really wants it. Again, I don't really think it is that helpful and it was very hectic and confusing.

Actually, it would probably turn into a giant game of Telephone. Discussions would happen at trading events, in PM's, in emails and chats. And bits and pieces would make it's way around, and get twisted into who knows what more than it already is. As unpleasant as all of this is, at least everyone can see who said what.

I did not get a chance to read it as I have been busy all week supporting my Disney addiction (aka working). I wanted to be able to take some time when I was not pressed to be doing something else and really read it. Now I will be getting my information secondhand.

While I understand whyLansam was not prepared for the animosity that has been turned their way, there is in any group you assemble a vocal group of critics and naysayers. It seems that the ones with complaints and/or arguments take up a lot of time and energy. Whatever happens with Lansam/Pinpics, I am determined not to let all of the drama of the past week or so spoil the fun of pin trading for me-I will go right on trading and communicating with the great people I have met here, and enjoying my pins, of course!

I haven't read it either. I am interested in it.

The decision is in line with Lansam's goal of restricting access and discussion and censor as much as they can. Actually, it just took them 48 hours for them to realize of what people thought of their performance.

Even more I took the time to post a number of questions spent time and thought and this was what I got feeling vry unloved by pinpics and wont participate again because of it I said the sad as above post the questions and answers in a closed thread I had read the answers once quickly and wanted to take the time to read them again. This was not plesant

I forgot about the chat until I read up on the controversy and when I went to go look for it, I couldn't find it.

I will not post it. And after thinking about it, I'm not going to send it to anybody either for fear that they will post it or send it to someone else that will. I just reread it and still don't believe it was all that informative. There were more responses from other people throwing in their two cents than responses to LANSAM.

I don't believe there is anything in there worth discussing at this point that hasn't already been discussed. However, I do see how a couple of people could go in there and pick it apart in yet another effort to stir up drama. This forum has been a rather unpleasant place to be lately largely because to two people (or one person with two id's...still haven't figured that one out) who joined this forum with the sole purpose of stirring up controversy. They did not even join until after the Pinpics announcement was made and from what I can see, have thus far not contributed anything but negativity and unproven speculation. If Pinpics turns out to be horrible, they can relish in the fact that they were right. And if it turns out to be just fine or even better, then they can continue using the free services they have used in the past. Until then, I refuse to give them further ammunition, even if it is blanks.

This is stupid. I wish they did have a chat box.

Advocating censorship are we? Deciding to intrepret that it wasn't important for others is censoring the conversation when others have asked to read it.

For the record, I joined this site BEFORE I brought up LANSAM at all. So, please get the facts straight. And, I only have one name, and MANY supporters.

I will see if I can get a copy of the chat for the others to read since you don't want to show how AWFUL it was. The only reason LANSAM hid it, as it showed more examples of why they cannot be trusted with the main database for pins. Removing the post, was just another censorship and hiding of the truth (a chat I had nothing to do with and could not participate as I am banned).

No, I am not advocating censorship, I am advocating taking a break from the endless BS. It isn't my chat session to post and if they don't want it posted any longer then that is their decision. I'm pretty positive that some of you "friends" were in that chat log so if they didn't save it and can't provide it to you (in the event you weren't there...) then that is their/your problem, not mine. I look at forums like online homes and the owners of the forums are the home owners. If someone were in my home and behaving this way and pointing endless fingers at me, I would kick them out. I don't see why forums should be any different. You can push the line here or you can go start your own forum and say whatever you want, nothing is stopping you. But if someone doesn't want you in their home then that is their decision.

And yes, you are correct that if you go by the thread dates that you did join the forum prior to the announcement. However, I recall one of your previous posts saying that LANSAM was involved with Pinpics back in October which is coincidently the same timeframe you joined here. You claim to know so much, why would I think you didn't know about LANSAM's involvement then? If you are such a part of the pin trading community I find it difficult to believe that you didn't know DPF existed before October 2011. Why wait an entire year to join? I can think of a reason...

The chat in no way "AWFUL" like you would lead others to believe. It was hectic and a little unorganized, but in no way did it contain what you are saying it did. When all this started I didn't know what to believe but after watching it unfold, I'm sorry, but I don't trust a word you say, especially after that comment. You just made a wild exaggeration. Not to mention all of the whispers I have been hearing about you and the people you associate with. I have no idea if any of them are true, but they are just as damning as the things you are accusing LANSAM of.

Most of us here don't know LANSAM and you say they can't be trusted. Well, most of us don't know you either, so why should you be trusted? I think there is a lot more going on here than you are saying.

Bottom line, the database isn't yours. It isn't any of ours. You have a choice of whether to contribute to it going forward or not. If you don't like what they are doing then go start your own. Nobody is stopping you. And don't bother launching into how many pictures you have donated....you have already benefited from that. Without Pinpics I highly doubt your ebay business would have achieved the level it has. So unless you can prove that you put in more work than Britt, Figgy, the mods, or anyone else put in to provide you with FREE Pinpics service then you have no claim to ownership in my book.
