Okay, this is a new suggestion for the forums.

Please vote above in the poll if this is something that interests you as a member.

With DPF getting to be a bigger place with more people (We just hit 2000! Congrats!) there are more posts to read, and the site becomes costly to run. For now, this is just an idea board of something that COULD happen, but in the end, the decision is up to the mods. Please post your ideas of what you would and would not like to see in this thread.

DPF Gold is a $15 a year membership that gives you exclusive benefits and features, and helps keep the site running.

This really doesn't have an affect on most people, but I've seen a few people that come on the boards, upload a bunch of pictures to post, and then are never seen again. This photo hosting is VERY costly, and would be convenient if just restricted to members.

This ONLY restricts uploading your photos directly to DPF. It does NOT restrict you from posting your photos from other photo hosting sites like Photobucket, or posting YouTube links.
 
Sounds like a decent idea. I know other sites I belong to do the same thing for similar perks.
 
I think it should have its own sale and trading threads? Why? Because people in there you know will have been around longer and less likely to screw around.
 
I am really poor right now. It would be a financial burden that I could not afford. I have participated in forums with this kind of idea in the past. One particular forum I can think of ended up becoming highly exclusive-- the paying members would often ignore or belittle non-paying members. I am not saying that it would happen here. However, I really like the comradery on the forums as present and would not want to see that risked.

Honestly, that's the only thing I would be afraid of. However I'd be willing to try this and go for it.

I am sooo for this . . . . I don't think that anyone would look down upon non gold members . . . I know I wouldn't! I just want a bigger inbox and signature space for more clickable images - not necessarily huge pics!!! :0) And if anyone can't afford it maybe your could trade pins for someone to pay your fee :0)

I love the idea and it might keep the "one hit wonders" from clogging up the system. I personally upload from Photobucket and since it's free, it's not an inconvenience. But I would most definitely love the bigger inbox and signature. And I would never look down on anyone. We are all human beings and deserve the same respect whether we pay or not. Either way I'm staying here. I really enjoy this Board and would gladly kick in money to help keep it running.

Coloured names- Imagine Moondance in teal- it's so...Moondance! :D
Auto-colour/font/size posts- So Moondance can post faster in teal, size 6 and comic sans MS!!!!!!!

I'm trying to think up things I'd want in a gold membership. The only thing I've really wanted... is to get this site in my phone's Google Reader.

RSS feed anyone? For $15 bucks/year can someone make it happen? I'd like RSS feeds for separate forums too (co-ops, for sale, etc).
 
I'm definitely down for a bigger mailbox. There are so many messages I need to keep about trades, future trades, etc...
