Is there an option to be notified by email when you have a PM or message? I have looked, but maybe missed it?

There sure is! In Settings, go to "General Settings" in the "My Settings" menu to the left of the screen. Under "Messaging & Notification," find "Private Messaging." Find "Email Notification of New Private Messages:" and check the appropriate box. Don't forget to scroll down and click "Save Changes." Then you should be all set! :)
