So, I'll be taking a trip to China in a few weeks and visiting the latest House of Mouse. Anyone got any good pin insights for me? Some specific questions I have:

I understand there is CM lanyard trading but have no idea what pins they have. Are there Shanghai-specific sets?

I am not planning on bringing traders (other than for the CMs). But if there is someone local who wants to trade, let me know. I would be glad to bring pins specific to a planned trade.

I would be glad to do pickups for folks, but I have no idea what is there. If anyone can shed some light on that, that would be awesome. I can also do a post when I get there. Price will probably be cost, shipping, and a couple bucks per pin for transport.

Anything else?
Thanks!

Im sure there are exclusive sets but I have no idea what. Have an amazing time!

@Spr175psu visited last year (all three Asia parks) so he might be able to help. I am looking for Gelatoni pins and only HKDL and Shanghai sell them so they always have a few styles. So I will put together a short list of what might be available and PM you.

They have Hidden Mickey pins, but I don't know how they are usually distributed (in HKDL you could find some on lanyards, but also by playing games during pin release weekends).

So jealous, have a great time!

Oh man, so excited for (or jealous of, same thing) you!! There is definitely more of a pin presence than in Tokyo Disney. All cast members wear lanyards, mostly with Shanghai-specific pins, like their hidden mickey sets, though I did see some scrappers. The best place I found for pin buying, though you can find them in most places, was actually at the very front of the park where they also assist in Photo Pass purchase (that's a whole other ordeal entirely but worth it). That's where I found all of the LE pins and princess/prince reveal/conceal pins. There's also a Duffy and Friends only merchandise store that had a ton of pins and that's where I found some of my Gelatoni pins.

We stayed at Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and their merchandise store had some LE pins, mostly Duffy and Friends, and they had a massive pin board with some great, unique pins.

Overall, aside from cast members, there weren't any others doing trading so it's fine that you don't bring any. You won't really be missing out.

I can't wait to go back but we're not planning Shanghai again until 2023 unless I can convince the better half to add it to our Aulani/HKDL/TDL trip next November.

PM me if you have questions about anything else, pin or non-pin related.

Oh, and go on Pirates and Tron (definitely once at night and definitely front row) for me!

From what I learned there are some park exclusive pins. Pins are a newer concept there so you'll have good pickings. The Mickey M Arcade just inside the park and their World Of Disney are the biggest stores and probably have the best trading imo. Hope this helps. And if you find any Cheshire, I'd love to trade for it later!

Btw there supposedly arent that many regular pins in stores besides trading like booster sets so bring a lot of CM traders!

Thanks for all the thought so far!

@Spr175psu I will definitely take you up on your offer to answer questions. I’ll try not to be too overwhelming. :D

@mickeymousje I am on IG. If you could let me know who posts I would love to check them out.

I was lucky enough to be able to visit Disneyland Shanghai March 2018 so I would be happy to answer any questions you have as well.

Lanyard trading was fun because there was a chance of finding stuff that is not avalible in USA but there was A LOT of scrappers. You are in the country to Disney scrappers.

There was a lot of fun pins to buy thought. They have lots of Shanghai exclusive pins. Its quite easy to find the LE pins but most of them are begind disc so look there. Also most of the Shanghai exclusive pins are of Duffy and friends. They are very popular there.

Most of all, enjoy the rides. They have amazing rides! Pirates of the caribbean and Tron are amazing!

What else... oh make sure you have a well charged phone because everything is on there. You book FPs on your phone and to use it you have to scan a code in the app.

Also dont miss the shows. Even though they are not in english they are so cool to see.

Oh and be ready for crowds. And lines. The lines are crazy because people will vut all the time. Its accepted there so you cant really get angry. Its super hard to swallow but that is just the way it is. They dont seem to look at it as cutting but more of filling up empty space :)

I second this! Tell us how the storybook castle compares to the others!

Which hotel did you stay at? (I’m trying to decide between the two. )

I second this 100%. The Tarzan show might be one of my favorite stage shows on any Disney property and that is including Big Band Beat, which was incredible, and the terribly overrated One Man's Dream II. But that is also because I'm a sucker for that soundtrack. My daughter befriended a lady sitting next to us who was translating the show for her. It was really cute.

We stayed at the Disneyland hotel. It was amazing. But we really only slept there. Wanted to get as much time as possible inside the parks :) Its a huge advantage to stay at the resort because they have a separate entry with a lot of less lines.

Loved Tarzan and really loved the Pirates stunt show as well.

Haven't been, so I can't offer any tips, but have fun!

I'll throw my hat in for some Gelatoni/Duffy pins if you're buying traders to bring back!

Three days till I leave for China and nine days till Disney!! Thanks for all the tips here. Looking forward to a great trip. I still don't know what specific pins they have so can't offer up specific pickups, but I do plan to grab a bunch of stuff (especially Duffy/Gelatoni since that seems to be the big one) and will have a trade and/or sale thread when I get back.

I hope you have a great time! If they have any of these pins left over from Valentine's day, I would love to get them:) Thanks so much and safe travels!
