It's a fundamental concept that I have that I won't trade or bid a pin I don't yet own. I have recently bid a pin that I had purchased on eBay and it wasn't in my possession but I did have delivery confirmation. But that is about as far as I would go.
I don't agree with presales, pretrading, or in this case pre-bidding. I don't think it is fair to do that and I won't bid against someone doing it. They may have all the confidence in the world they can obtain that pin but nothing is certain and DSF releases have never gone according to plan. I find it arrogant to offer a pin that is over a month away and I will not offer my pins I already have against a pin that potentially could not even be for sale, or possibly raffled, or whatever. Hopefully you understand that. Sorry to sidetrack your auction.

Don't take it personal. If it were anyone else I'd still pull my offer. I just don't see how you can offer a pin you don't have. Bid with pins you own. I am not going to compete with pins that are to this point still theoretical. How do you value a pin that isn't even released yet? Regardless if you take a week or a month off, you don't know the future and you cannot guarantee you will be able to acquire that pin.

Even if you do, I think that is the least valuable of the BT pins being offered that day but who knows the value. How do I bid against it? I can bid what I want and what I am willing to bid against the offered pin but I'm not playing catch up to a pin that won't even be available for a month. I bid to beat the #1 spot up to a point I am comfortable with. Maybe that is why I don't win many auctions. I won't bid more in value of pins than I can sell them and buy the pin being auctioned. I also won't add to a bid if I feel the #1 person has already bid beyond the value of a pin. That is just personal strategy. But this is a new situation where I will not bid simply because I think that is an unfair bid to offer. Just my opinion, everyone won't agree with me but I'm ok with it.
