This may not be in the right place, but we are going on our first Disney Cruise. We are totally excited and even getting to do two days at disney world. Unfortunately, we will not be there for the Star Wars weekend as we are going on a Monday and Tuesday. Anyone have suggestions for not only pin trading on the cruise for myself, but for my 3.5 year old son as well?

Pick up some mystery boxes, the ones with the porthole windows (I think that's what they're called?)- there is a nice Rapunzel pin in there that makes a great trader! ;) I also heard they do pin trading in the lobby part of the ship LOL... but I've never been on a Disney Cruise yet :) Have fun! ^_^

Hi - You will love it!!!! "IF" you have a chance that you might have a Disney Character Outlet near you or have time
prior to going on the cruise, they have a great starter set on sale (8 pins) buy one get one free - $18.99 and some
other pins that are $2.99 + if you might need some official traders :)

The CM's wear lanyards through the ship, there is also Pin Trading with the officers, so make sure to read your
NAVIGATOR (ships daily news and events) which is put in your cabin each day.

ALSO, "IF" you love your cruise and think that you might go again, make sure to stop by the CM's desk for rebooking
onboard!!!! You can reserve a future cruise for a very low deposit and they will give you a discount and a onboard credit
for your next sailing :) Make sure to ask all the details - there is a balance due date penalty date or usually bring in the
date a couple of days so you do not forget to either pay for your next cruise in full or to move it to another date if you
are not sure, this way you should not be in penalty. Worth booking for a future possible DCL cruise :)

Have a great time!!!!

Take Care
Dana

Oh yes, tons of pin trading! I have been on two cruises, the Dream and the Magic, and on both tons of cast members were wearing lanyards. Furthermore, I saw very few scappers. Check the daily events, and look for pin trading with the Captain. This happened on both of my cruises, and there were a bunch of people trading. The cast members basically got in a line and you could go from person to person. It was really fun, and people of all ages were enjoying it. I'll be doing the Mediterranean cruise this summer, I hope there will be just as much trading!

Hi, hope you have a good time. We are going on the fantasy in 3weeks our first disney cruise too! I know they have one night around 7:30pm that they do pin trading with the officers. I have a five year old who loves pin trading. I hope the crew wears lanyards like in the park.

Thanks for the information. We are also in a fish extenders group and we are excited for our little boy and want to see what he gets. I have been trying to think of something related to pins that we could do for the other rooms, but with a large group does anyone have any ideas?

Which Med cruise are you doing? We'll be on the June 27 and the July 9 cruises.

:wavey: Our family is also on the June 27th cruise...which means we have at least three families from DPF enjoying that cruise. Also, might someone be kind enough to explain fish extenders? For those that have pin traded on cruises, do the traders bring serious numbers of pins like they do to a trading meet? Thoughts and feedback welcome!

Hurray! Even more DPF members, that's awesome! On the cruises I've been on, no. Mostly just rack pins and hidden mickey's, and nobody had books. I'll be hitting Disneyland Paris right before the cruise though, so I'll have some limiteds on me most likely.

So with all that I hear about the Disney Park CM's having 95% fakes on their lanyards would you recommend that I skip trading at DisneyWorld and instead look to trade with CM's on the ship?

On my cruise with the Magic there was the Officer trading night. On this evening event yoy can trade with the captain and all high fficiers onboard in the lobby. Normally they also pick a child that the make the honor pin trader of the evening that child may stand next to the captain with a cm lanyard and trade with the oter people with the captains help. The little girl on the cruise was very proud! I don;t know how she was picked but maybe just ask at the guestrelation deck.

And on board there are a lot of cm with lanyards so it's handy to bring a lanyard with pins always with you where ever you go. Or just some loss pins in you're back.

From the cruises I've been on, the trading has been limited to a few CMs with lanyards and officer trading sessions. While the pins are mostly HMs, they are nearly all authentic and there is a lack of the "ravenous" people you may find at the parks.

Don't assume that the pins on the ship are more likely to be authentic...I bought and traded my first pins on a Disney cruise...and the ones I got in trades were both scrappers.
