I'm asking this because I'm completely overwhelmed by the $150 price tag of Pin 96498: WDW - 13 Reflections of Evil - Super Jumbo - 13 Villains, which is being released at the Villains Event later on this year. I have never seen a single pin cost that much at retail. It just seems like a lot for a single pin, even if it is one of the most fantastic pins that I've ever seen.

Maybe it shouldn't matter too much, as the very best pins end up costing a lot more than that eventually. I just feel like if I don't buy it at its retail cost, I'll just never be able to trade for it. I mean, who would spend $150 on a pin just for trading? Most people could just buy their top Grail for that price!

So yeah, I just wanted to know if any other single pins have ever been sold at such a high price upon release.

After seeing the merch catalog, I have to agree with you 100%. I've been to many merchandise events in the past (mostly Haunted Mansion and Mansion Holiday for years in a row) and none of the jumbos were in this price range. I don't see these as being any bigger or better than before, either so I'm a little put off by it. Some of the LE sizes are quite small so Disney may feel at ease raising the prices but I agree, trading for these seems nearly impossible at this point. I'm only seeing the $100+ pins as investments for collectors who intend to keep them for themselves - trades will mostly be broken up $84.95 sets and mystery boxes. Same with the Tiki Room event; there's just too huge of a percentage of high-priced sets to make trading very viable.

Could u plz post a pic of the pin.....seems an awful lot for 1 jumbo pin.....

That's what I'm thinking. It's not like ALL of the prices at the event are crazy. I think that the 8 pin set for $90 is fantastic. But then the single pins for $85 and $150 just seem like too much. Especially when, like you say, event super jumbos in the past have been around $50 less.

LOL, I want the pin because it features Gaston, Scar, Chernabog and Facilier! I collect all of them! It seriously is one the most fantastic pins I've ever seen. :( Just can't get over that price.

I think $150 is to dang high... Especially since it doesn't have Frollo!!! the vilest villain of all!

come to think of it, none of those 13 event pins have Frollo, they skipped him totally. That sucks.

This was the highest retail I can ever remember for a single pin. It was very nice. I saw it one time and was disappointed I didn't end up putting it on my rsp.

I own the LE 50 Mansion .925 sterling silver with marcasite stone pins (mansion exterior, hatbox ghost, and bat stanchion). Those were retail $150 (minus 20% discount!) at the time -- most I've ever spent retail-wise on pins.

I know there were some "swarovski" crystal pins that were over $1,000.

Personally, I don't count the swarovski pins since they are not created by the normal pin team. I don't think I have seen any of those get that high though.

I think this is the second highest retail on a pin released by the regular pin team. The highest I know of is the
Pin 61184: WDW - Expedition: PINS - Dream Jeweled Mickey Mouse

Retail price was $1295.

I wouldn't really count those either since they are made with Swarovski crystals, how can the price be anything less than $900? It just doesn't make any sense lol

Likewise, I wouldn't count that one either since it has real sapphires and other diamonds on it so it gets an automatic bump up. $150 for a plain jumbo pin that probably isn't as big as other large pins is kind of a lot imo

Most I have paid was about $95 for a Haunted Mansion 5 years ago or so. Lovely pin.

Excluding auction pins, the highest retail pin sold to general public I believe was [Pinpics]56787[/pinpics]: WDW - Where Dreams HapPIN - Disney Pin Celebration 2007 - Jeweled Tinker Bell, which had a retail price of $995.00. It was an LE 3 and sold out. It had diamonds and made out of 14 kt gold.

For auction related pins, I believe the highest Disney Auction pin was [Pinpics]11381[/pinpics]: Disney Auctions - Madame Leota (Pre-Production Silver), with a final bid of $1,025.00 in April 2002.

._. That LE 3 Tink pin doesn't even look that nice. LOL, at least the Villains pin doesn't cost that much!

So...is anyone going to buy this pin? I'm sure there will be some who will buy it for themselves, but would anyone shell out that amount of money for a trader?

I think $150 isnt too bad if its a super jumbo, and also its a really awesome looking pin!

However I think if you look into the future sales, if you put it up for sale you will not get back $150, or it will never rise above that.

If I held out, do you think that I could get it for less than $150? Or would it just remain consistently at the cost price?

Nobody can say for sure and in the end, it is a giant gamble. Given that, IF I really wanted it, I'd buy it from the start because you never know, but if you don't really want it (like myself) I'd wait because I can see the pin going down in value afterwards, I can't see 3 years down the line it going for $150 minimum but that's just me "seeing," it may not be true >_< Considering none of the villains pictured are currently or have ever been the big thing, I doubt it'll ever skyrocket or stay high like those characters (Tink, Jessica, Stitch, Tangled).
