2018 Pin Releases
If there is going to be a DSSH June event, you'd think they'd say something soon, right? Right??

I am going with 'when'... there is no 'if' in my mind. And agree... its gotta be announced soon!

My first DSSH event was the Finding Dory Pixar event at the LB aquarium. I remember registering for it on the first day allowed. Based on where I was when I registered I know it was very late May or perhaps early June (since my daughter was out of school and we were already off visiting family). Thus going to guess a June 4th registration date for the event (2.5 weeks away). At two releases the DSSH mgr. specifically said its a June event and at the CC release he said it is themed for the Incredibles (and then he cut himself off and said he wouldn't tell us the theme... but he told us at least 1/2 of the theme). The mgr. said his staff are actively working on it, so any day now...

I have already checked the DSSH FB page several times today...

How popular do the pins from these DSSH events tend to be as traders? I know the villains were hugely popular but I get the sense that was a bit of an outlier. Thoughts? Especially if Incredibles? Not sure there are a ton of Incredible collectors out there.

I think the event pins could be very popular... although for the upcoming event, I agree with you about the Incredibles limited popularity. I imagine the marquee will be part of an Incredibles pin set which attendees will be able to purchase. But there is usually 2-3 other pin sets or jumbos or ??? and those could be very popular.

I have now attended 4 DSSH events... 2 had pins which were so popular that the registrations sold out very fast (animation celebration fall 2016 and villains fall 2017.) So in my limited experience 50% of the events were high demand and both were in the fall. The event earlier in the year (March or June) are themed for a movie (Finding Dory, BatB Live Action, pending Incredibles). The fall events seems to allow for random pins without a specific movie release theme and have been much more popular.

Keep in mind that people now know that DSF stocks marquees, high-end PTDs, APs of older releases, etc. on its trade boards. So even if the pins themselves aren't popular, the event will probably still sell out pretty much immediately. People are banking on making their money back off of what they can pull off those boards.

If they do what they've done previously, none of the event pins will be available outside of the event and probably won't all sell out to event attendees, which means future DSF trade events will have these event pins on their trade boards.

It seems like a lot of time and money in order to have the chance to gain enough pins that could be resold to pay for the high event fee. Breaking even seems like the best possibility...and mostly I would think losing money is more likely.

So, basically what I am hearing is that, with the exception of the Villains event, the pins that are for sale at the DSSH events tend not to be very good traders. It's all about what you get off the boards, which can be some really great pins. Sound about right?

Yes. And the Board Trading is loads of fun.

Why do they always put out new pins during the day on a weekday? Blargh! Gonna need to find that PJ one, since they'll probably be long gone before I can make it there this evening.

(Now I think - if I had only called out sick today...)
