My apologies for taking so long to post this thread!
I've been meaning to, ever since the 3D (Dawny, Diablo, and Docfish) Trading Party a few weeks ago. I've posted a few pics on Instagram, but nothing on the forum.
Until now!
Usually, I'm not a big party person... Social situations in general make me rather uncomfortable - unless I'm doing clowning, or doing some sort of volunteer work where I feel like I have a job to do, and I do it. But I made a special exception to go to this party, since I knew David (Docfish2u) would be there.
I had never met David in person before, but he is probably the member of this forum I feel the biggest bond with. He so easy-going and friendly, and goes out of his way to make everyone around him happy. He is seriously an inspiration to me.
Aside from all that, he has also zapped me several times... Usually, with grails - no joke. (In fact, I'm the first person who dubbed him "grail slayer.")
When I walked into the already-crowded room, I knew him at once, despite never seeing any good pictures of him. I ran up and immediately and gave him a big bear hug - the first of many hugs that evening. Then I step away, introduce myself, and he realizes who in Sam Hill I am.
He tells me he has something for me, and then he hands me two pins.
This is the first one...
Some of you might remember that when the DSF ad came out with this pin, I kind of freaked out. As all of you know, I collect Figaro. Some of you know I also collect Halloween pins, especially if they feature jack-o-lanterns. So this pin couldn't be more perfect for me. (Well, unless Figaro was wearing a Peter Pan hat. With Chip and Dale spinning a dreidel underneath - LOL!)
Back in October, I posted a thread saying I'd be willing to buy or trade for this pin. Immediately, David contacts me and told me not to worry - It had been "taken care of." I was like, "What?!" :wat:
Anyway, so yeah, at the party that night, I was thrilled to receive my Figaro pumpkin pin, at long last. Before the party, David had told me he wanted to give me something, so I assumed that's what he had for me. I was not expecting a second pin!
But there was one...
LOOK AT THIS PIN.
LOOK AT IT!
It was on my grail list, despite the fact that I had never seen the pin in person, and the PinPics photo was terrible.
I thought it was an adorable pin from what I could tell, but probably very small.
In person, it's HUGE! I included a penny in the picture for scale.
It doesn't even fit on my Figaro pin board!
I need to make a new one.
After David gave me those two beautiful pins, Lisa (averysfairytale) arrived at the party, with her husband Brian in tow.
I definitely was not expecting anything from her.
But right away, she hands me a beautiful blue gift box, and tells me to open it up. :hsugh:
I do, and it is filled with gift after gift! First off, there's a really pretty necklace with a pendant shaped like Cinderella's carriage, and some bath gel in an adorable little tiara, which makes me feel like a total princess.
Then there is a super-cute Peter Pan inspired hair bow thats all green with a red ribbon coming off it. :bigthumb:
And then, as if that wasn't enough, at the bottom, I see a little bundle all wrapped up... And when I unwrap it...
OMG!
ANOTHER grail!
Lisa gave me the jumbo pin off my signature -
The one with Peter Pan flying through the night sky with the pirate ship.
This is one of the prettiest pins I've ever seen, and I never thought I'd actually own it.
Here it is now, in the center of my Peter Pan pin board...
Isn't it gorgeous?!
At the party, I asked Lisa what & how & why, and she just said it had been on my wants list too long.
Seriously?
THANK YOU, LISA!
I'm so happy I think I'll give you a kiss.
You are SO SWEET!
And so is Brian.
Oh, and speaking of Brian, I had a fantastic time talking to him at the party. We got on the subject of Figaro pins, because as it turns out, he is a woodcarver who collects Gepetto and other Pinocchio pins. He showed me pictures on his phone of some of his projects, including a Dormouse jack-in-the-box, a Maleficent marionette, and a life-size wooden Olaf to be used as a Christmas decoration at his house. I was blown away - He is SO talented! The conversation drifted from Pinocchio to Figaro, of course, and I showed him a small picture of my Figaro pins I had posted on Instagram. We spoke about our respective pin collections for a while, and he started asking me about some of the Figaro pins I still needed. I figured we were just making conversation, so I was pretty much thrown for a loop when he handed me this at the end of the evening...
THANK YOU, BRIAN!
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
I still can't get over what you all did for me.
I always love this time of year, but you guys
made my holiday season extra-special.
I love you all (and not just for the pins)!
:')

You guys are freaking amazing. Or, as Figaro would say, purr-fect.
WAIT.
I'M STILL NOT DONE.
