Hey everyone,

I've been looking through a lot of pins, and I always see these "artist proof" pins listed and people talk about them. I have a few questions to entertain if someone can help:

First off...what are they? I think I have a basic understanding just from the name of it, but I was hoping for more information on it.

Second...how do you get them? Do you buy them? Do you trade? Do you magically make them appear?

Thanks everyone for entertaining my questions.

My understanding of Artist Proofs, from other mediums like statues and art prints, is the Artist Proof is the first couple of an item produced, like the first 10 or so of a pin out of 250, etc, and they are ones judged for quality, design, etc. Usually in other mediums they are sold at a higher price, because you know it was the first, or it was inspected, or many other reasons.

How they enter the pin community, I have heard of them showing up on CM lanyards, or Scoop gives them out, or at events on Pin Boards, as far as I know. There might be other ways, but I do not know what they are.

Ah, okay. That's very helpful. Now I really want to know how to get more of the AP pins. I don't know what I would do with them, but who knows. Any other thoughts would be helpful from others that know more.

Also, another question just came up that I was thinking about the last two times I was at WDW...where and how do you find Scoop? I know he's generally on Main Street, but is it really luck of the draw to find him?

Just asking CMs around main street is probably the best option. I don't know if there are particular days where he's more active / less active. Maybe a local can give more insight into that.

Last i spoke to him, he is on Main Street Sunday-Tuesday in the morning. By noon, he and the other Main Street Characters disappear. Also, he usually opens the park on Sunday mornings.

As far as other info on APs. I have found that they are of no more value than the regular version of the pin (assuming that there are no differences from the regular pin) to a person that is not interested in the pin. To a person who is interested in the pin, it has been my experience that they are maybe worth 10% than the regular version. To a person that collects AP, they are worth way more than the regular version.

As always, a pin is worth what you can get for it (or give for it, depending on what side of the transaction you are on). As always, your mileage may vary.
