Hey guys, want your advice on which Snow White to get. Obviously my dream Snow is the 17inch one but she's a bit out of my budget lol.
So which one out of the two designer dolls do you prefer and why?

Designer Snow White
Pros:
Love the bright colours
The apple clutch is cute
The cape!

Cons
Grandma hair
Face doesn't look too good

Fairytale Snow
Pros:
Better face sculpt
Cuter hair
More iconic outfit eg the poofy sleeves

Cons:
Have no interest in the prince
Darker colours

Fairytale.

I like that she's more classic looking and I prefer the materials of her clothes. Keep in mind I don't like the original designer line. They look like a bunch of Barbies dressed in the theme of Disney princesses.

I hate her braid, though, so I let the hair on mine loose so that she resembles the art better.

I would definitely go for the Fairytale Snow as I do not like the Designer Snow Whites face and her dress isn't really impressive either. But that's only my opinion.:)
Maybe you could sell the prince afterwards...

I do like the brighter colours of the original but hate her grandma hair and her face does look like a barbie. The fairytale I think is prettier and I don't mind the braid but I would like to undo it but wouldn't know if I would dare lol .

Really? It's such an easy alteration. I didn't even remove mine from the case to do it. I just picked off the rubber band, freed the hair and styled it with my fingers, and then snipped off the ends that were too straight.

Here's a horrible pic taken with my phone, but maybe you can see what I mean.

I don't have this doll but from the pictures I've seen, I like her so much better with her hair down like this. Nice!

She looks amazing! Yes I was scared if I cut the band that the hair would go frizzy and I would have to tame it, but seeing yours makes me want to get her and unbraid the hair!

For sure! That's how she was shown in the artwork, and then sometime between concept and finished product she ended up with that stupid braid.

My theory is they worried about how it would hold up during shipping, like she might end up looking so ratchet by the time she arrived in stores. These dolls are more secured than a vault the way they're strapped into these boxes.

ETA, no, it's not frizzy. You might have to play with a bit to get the waves to your desire, but because it was machine braided, it's tight and so the hair's firm or whatever. Do it! Get her! (LOL, if you want to I mean)

I personally like the Designer Snow better than Fairytale Snow. :)

To me her hair doesn't look "grandma"...but more 50's/retro. I also like her facial expression and makeup colors better on the Designer...I think they went too dark on Fairytale Snow. And I personally hate, hate, hate Fairytale Snow's hair. I am not a de-boxer...but if you do decide to get Fairytale Snow and unbox her I would totally undo the braid like others have...it looks much better in my opinion. :)

I also love Designer Snow's cape and jeweled apple clutch...it's always a nice touch when they give them a little "prop". The prince also doesn't really appeal to me, although they are not posed super-awkward unlike Fairytale Rapunzel and Flynn lol.

Yes, Designer Snow does look more "Barbie" like, but I like that look so I think it just depends on which doll "speaks" to you more. :)

Completely agree about the hair!! I love both to be honest, but Designer Snow is slightly higher for me because of the hair.

I'm pretty sure they have the same face sculpt, just different faceups. I prefer Designer 2011 Snow because she looks different from the playline Snows, and she has a 'closed' mouth, even though all they did was paint her teeth red. Fairytale designer Snow just looks almost exactly like the playline one to me except with lashes and ugly hair.

I'm with Becky on liking 2011 Designer Snow White more than DFDC Snow White, though both are very lovely dolls. 2011 Designer Snow White wind for me, because her colors are more bold and her outfit is more elegant in its unencumbered design. The cloak and pure white opera gloves also add bonus points for me. Her hair does look very 1960s, which is in-line with the collection concept, though I can see why you think it looks a bit grandma (it would have been awesome if they could have actually given her the hair from the design sketch).

DFDC Snow White's outfit is nice, but the skirt is so dark and stiff, and I was never a fan of the giant lace border of the petticoat popping out from under the hemline. The braided hair is all sorts of wrong, but it does look good when unbraided, as a few people have done and photographed (I still need to do that at some point). If you do get the DFDC set and get rid of the Prince, since you would have deboxed them anyway, you could always swap the DFDC Snow White doll with a Classic Snow White doll and put some eyelashes on her. I think if she had her iconic hair, I would have loved her a lot more.

Still, the choice is yours in terms of which one appeals to your own sense of aesthetics more. It sounds like another good solution may be to take the 2011 Designer Snow White outfit and put it on a Classic Snow White doll with eyelashes applied. That would still be cheaper than getting the DFDC set and you would have a one-of-a-kind treasure. Hmmm... I may have to try this one if I ever debox my 2011 Designer Snow White!

Shiva, talking of ooak dolls, I think my dream Snow White doll would be the current classic doll wearing the dress from the signature Snow White doll! I really like the signature Snow White doll. I was thinking of getting that instead of the designer as I do prefer it, what do you think of that doll? She would like nice in a designer doll case.
Do any of the classic dolls share the same sculpt as the 17inch Snow?

The Fairytale Snow by far! The original designers, especially Snow White, do nothing for me, where I think the Fairytale couples are so regal, royal, and expensive looking and just gorgeous in general. If you can swing it, I'd go for the D23 version, as I think that is the most beautiful of the entire set. It's one of the those dolls that pictures truly cannot do justice.

Designer Snow Whites and their Princes - Side by Side

All three Designer Snow White dolls are displayed side by side, with their Princes. My own preference among them is the D23, then the Designer Princess, then the regular Designer Fairytale. But I think that they are all great dolls.

Snow White and the Prince - Designer Princess vs Regular Designer Fairytale vs D23 Designer Fairytale - Limited Edition Dolls - Disney Fairytale Designer Collection - Take 4 - Midrange Front View by drj1828, on Flickr

Two versions of the Snow White and the Prince Doll Set from the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection are compared side by side.

Joining them on the left is the 2011 Limited Edition Designer Snow White Doll from the Disney Princess Designer Collection. She was released online and in stores on September 19, 2011 and purchased online the same day. She is number 3997 of 6000. Behind her is the 2011 Classic Prince doll (as there were no limited edition dolls of the Prince from that year).

In the center is the regular edition Snow White and the Prince dolls, that have outfits closer to being movie accurate, and are a limited edition of 6000 sets. They were released in stores on August 20, 2013, and online the next day. My doll set was purchased in store on release day, and is number 558 of 6000.

On the right is the D23 Expo exclusive Gold Snow White and the Prince dolls, that have special outfits of the same pattern as the regular versions of the dolls, but made of different materials and colors. It was a limited edition of 600 sets. They were released exclusively at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on August 8-10, 2013. My dolls were purchased on August 9, 2013, and are numbered 114 of 600.

Thank you so much for your detailed review and picture! I really appreciate that you take such detailed pictures and do reviews on flickr! As when I'm deciding on a item if i want to buy or not, the first place I look is your images on flickr!

I saw the D23 set going for around $250, good deal or possible to find cheaper later?
A few weeks ago I got the D23 set for 160 USD in Japan. People don't seem interested in it...
Where's on ebay the average price seems to be 300-400 USD.
