Bodnars Pin Auction

We just sold the first board lots and it's been going well

Yes it's an elderly mans collection and he's parting with it to give the money to his grand kids. We'll be selling pins until 2am Friday morning. I wish I was kidding

So, while I briefly looked at the pics last night, I've been taking a closer look at them this afternoon. Scarily, I either own or want a good portion of those pins...

It's such a shame this auctioneer doesn't have an online bidding system! Most here in the UK have them now

We used to have an online bidding system, two actually. They weren't worth the fees and weren't generating enough interest to keep it up anymore

Also it's an extra person on payroll to clerk the online bidders - I've done it a few times before we got rid of it.

Ahh that makes sense fair enough

Hope the pin bidding was fun to watch, gutted I'm on the wrong side of the pond to bid but nice to see a few Paris pins I have were in there ^_^

Hope everything went ok Brittany. Guess you had a late night / early morning !!!

PM incoming Donna!

The sale was 18 hours (the entire sale - there are 3-4 going on at one time in different rooms) and ended at 2:30 this morning. I didn't get home until 3:30 this morning and I'm so sick I can't sleep haha

It was a lot of fun to watch, but hard too! To see an entire collection broken up like that - they did go to good homes though which makes me feel better

My first reaction was panic, I figured we'd lost a fellow trader - glad to know no one passed away!

My second reaction is pure, contented delight...I am obviously not the only one who collects en masse. Good to know we're not alone in our obsession, eh?

So who bought them? A bunch of different people? How were the prices?

Aw i saw this pin and bid on it, but lost there was a gentlemen there who had mad cash and was outbidding everone without batting an eye, i dont know if he is on here? Maybe he is and will trade, but it seemed like he is a seller?

Holy **** (sorry) but thats way late. Sorry i didnt say goodbye, i left after that bad man outbid me on MY PULLS...breathe....my eyes were watering and ears ringing,,,i dont know how you did it, but i hope to see you tonight and trade with you! 7pm girl. Oh i got your sissy a cheering pin!

The aution was an experience and exhausting, the lots were like 30+pins and they autioned about 3 lots perminute SO CRAZY and then the staff trying to pull them off the cork and get them to the winner...holy moly, Anthony and I cringed as they scooped up pins and dumped them by the handfulls into whatever you brought to take them,.. JUDY WOULD HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED--no backs either--they were seperate. With that being said, i went through all 650 pins i won (i am sick) and didnt see any damage except for 2 pins, and who knows if thats was how they were?

Thanks to Brittany who rocked this massive undertaking. You really have no idea unless you were there! Also if he peeks on here, thanks to Anthony who flew in, was a doll and was such a kind human being that although his budget far exceeded mine, allowed me to literally win lots by not bidding against me because he new i really wanted the pins in there! That says alot about character and having the Disney spirit.

I wish i had the strength to have stayed for "the good stuff" the individual LE's. I have never seen such amazing pins, so blessed to have seen them in person--a once in a lifetime experience. Brittany gave me the white glove tour treatment--what a great person. Looking foward to attending my first offical in-person trading event tonight at TRADE TIL YOU FADE, central jersey pin trading. Those of you coming i am bringin the mother load from last night! so lets trade and have a nice night!

PS--im fading already.

[ JUDY WOULD HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED--

Either that or she would have been wrapping pins for people! Ha, ha! Judy, you could have made a fortune!

No way!!! Lansam bribed you too now ????  I think he was playing you   Just wait and see ??!!

I wish to be the little fly on the wall. It sounds like an awesome experience. I am so very glad that you were there and managed to get some nice pins. The others were not meant to be ... but only for now, I hope you will get them via trade or other purchases.

I so wish I could have gone but #1 it was a 9 hour drive and #2 I knew if I went I would have no self restraint and would have bid anytime I saw something selling cheap. THIS is the problem with liking too many pins. I would have taken every dime of my camera money and tossed it right into the auction house and with my luck gone over what I had...LOL!! I know, pathetic, but true! So, I did the smart thing and stayed home! LUCKILY I put some low bids in on several things in I liked, thanks to Brittany and all of her help! Seriously, she is awesome. I don't know how she took this all on and kept up with everything yesterday while she was sick. We were on the phone at almost midnight chatting away and the auction was still going! lol I managed to win 7 pins at AMAZING prices so thanks to whoever was there and did not bid those up! hehe I am crazy excited. I wish I would have been able to win more but on the other hand it is a good thing I was not overspending and cutting into camera money too much! lol Can't wait for my pins to get here! Thank you again, Brittany! You rock! I hope you have finally been able to get some sleep and maybe even LOOK at your pins!

I'm glad I could help and it was so nice to meet (and talk on the phone!) with members and put names to faces. I'm just happy to see the collection go to happy homes.

Dawny - I apologize about the rough housing on the pins, they were making me cringe too There was so much excitement going on - a man walked out with two pin sets and we caught him and kicked him out after you left. I'll see you tonight though, no voice and all!

Lesson learned through all of this: more redbull, when prying massive amounts of pins on backers from boards in under a minute your hands WILL bleed, and I clearly value pins more than my car

No way on the theft...people really? you'll have to tell me who. Bad Karma.....and the pulling of the pins, I mentioned it but there was no other way, you guys didnt stop to pee, drink nothing and they couldnt keep up for 6 hours straight. My head was spinning and on the way home it felt like a vice...to much stimuli for this lady.
oh and i didnt sleep either...te he he i was up ar 5:45 to play with my pins too! I truly felt like i was 7 and it was Christmas!
