I just read this from ODPT What's HapPINing blog:

"We were informed this afternoon by the operations team at Epcot® that the
trading tables found at Pin Central will be removed for approximately the next
two weeks. Why? They are refurbishing them for your future enjoyment."

sure hope the tables come back.

I saw the headline and wondered if they might have removed them permanently due to certain people who hang out there for hours on end

Awww, I hope they come back . This really stinks . I enjoyed trading pins with the traders . I do know from a CM friend, that managers got complaints from guests that some traders want guests to go into pin central and buy pins for a Hidden Mickey or two . Sad, especially when a trader has three or four of the same pin . Just trade it for heaven's sake for another hidden mickey .

I agree, but there is always a bad apple out there that spoils the fun for everyone. I love trading with them, but when I see someone start asking someone to buy a pin to trade for something common & they have multiple of in their book (and you know they already have a complete set at home) it breaks my heart. I'm not asking for your LE 10 for my baby princess from the trader pack.

 Really !!!

They are cracking down on this sort of thing at Disneyland too.....

From Event Services:
"Beginning Monday, February 27, 2012, until further notice, Come Out and Trade
which takes place in Frontierland in Disneyland park will be on hiatus. During
this time we invite you to continue trading with Cast Members wearing lanyards,
as well as participating in other trading experiences throughout the Resort."

Well, the sharks should blame no one but themselves. They have once again ruined it for everyone. Maybe if Disney put up signs with the "rules for trading" and in writing prohibited buying pins for traders at their request we could get the tables back. But they "refurbished" them at DTD and they never came back. I don't expect them to come back to Epcot either.

If you get a fairly new book "The Dark Side of Disney", there is a chapter about people biking unsuspecting trades into buying pins to trade, then getting them to hand over the receipts in order to return the pins for cash. One gal wrote that she could clear up to $300 a day that way. I wondered when I read it how long it would take Disney to respond, and what that response would be. It is really too bad when a few bad people doing a con job spoil the fun for all.

WOW! :eek2: That is Rotten!

ARE YOU SERIOUS ?!?! I know that you are ... WoW, how sad !!! People are something the he!! else nowadays . And I bet I can think of one or two traders that do this .

I didn't think you could return pins! Thieves!!!!

I didn't think you could return pins! Thieves!!!!

and this is why i only trade and i dislike reselling and stuff, but that is just me. but your right, you seen it before, you know how bad and sad it is for these people to get scamed with scrapers, it is sad, and these sharks takes only scrppers pin books to epcot. i have respect for people who take their le 100 and good pins to epcot because they obviously don't pan on scaming these poor people at parks, and i mean come on, there are people who ask for other merchandise like autograph books and stuff, you obviously know they are going to resell them. anyways, lets just hope for the best.

It's a shame as this was the last "trading spot" left. Perhaps Disney are trying to condense the trading activity down to just Pin nights etc to prevent unsuspecting guests from having to make that purchase for a lesser value pin. I've traded at both DTD's, Ho, EPCOT & LGM & had a great time making loads of new friends & just trading for the sake of it - BUT I have come across some "traders" who will just take advantage & as mentioned in previous posts they are probably the ones to blame. When I was in EPCOT last month the same lady was at the same table at least 4-5 days in a row (I know as I had a beer in the Rose & Crown lunchtimes with friends - hey it's tradition!!). I did look through her books a couple of times & it seemed to me that nothing was moving BUT if you looked at the amount of pins in the plastic bag nearby then they were going down while the "take home" folder of new pins was growing!!

Hope the tables return but IMHO it's extremely doubtful!!

I have returned pins occasionally. I DO use a credit card, and they make you fill out your addy, phone, etc- a LOT of personal info. Do they NOT do that w cash transactions? If they DO, I don't see how that person can return so many pins, UNLESS she makes ups names as she does it

I'll tell you the truth reading that book just about made me sick! The stuff that goes on at Disney (at least with a few people) is jaw dropping! The one I posted about earlier would tell the people she traded with that she liked to keep the receipts with her collection to document when and where she got the pin. Then after they had gone, she would return it. Although she did not state where she returned the pins, but I'll bet it was nowhere near where she set up her trad..er, scamming act! She was also very disdainful of traders in general.

ugggg spit spit.....ok i feel better. This has to be MY fault. since i started seriously trading, parks have removed tables, pinpics is under new management, and CM have scrapper filled lanyards. SORRY EVERYONE. I will now invest in Gas stock as to lower oil prices (im sure corn oil cars will be the rage).
