I know we had a previous thread like this before, however I was ineffective in finding it. So as it goes --:wiggle: let's create a new one.

We have new traders entering our hobby daily. This is a chance for our community to expose them to not only the newer pins, but to revisit some of our older pins that have titillated longtime collectors. It's also an opportunity upon seeing them to...(how the heck did I miss that one - mussst have -- I will die if I can't find THAT ONE PIN - My Precious!!)......Add them to our "WANTS" list! :naughty:

There are literally tens-of-thousands of pins nowadays. Some we have wondered where the artists heads were at ; some, at best, are mediocre; some that become "most wanted", we look at later, and wonder how they even made it to the pin community's radar . Then there are those pins, whose art and quality, speaks to an individual's heart, or better, knocks the entire community's proverbial socks off.

It is recommended that if you can see the pins in person, please take the opportunity. The pictures we see here do not often reveal their true beauty.

What are some of your favorites? Why?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are three that I enjoy. The art is detailed and reminiscent of a charming older postcard style.

Halloween Fiend, your collection would probably be very interesting to me. I love all things halloween, I used to build haunted houses.

As such, my favorite pins are the ones that look a little scary.

I love this pin. It depicts a great scene from the movie and is nicely designed.

Is this a pin-on-pin?

Masterpiece.

Gomes.

The usual DA LE100 suspects. :D

Oldies But GOODIES - Word!
My favorite Masterpiece is:
pin35652th200
#35652 Masterpiece Series #3, Stitch

pin28967th200
#28967, Fantasia Sprite
pin52238th200
#52238, Maleficent
pin32274th200

DA 100s - I have be blessed to acquire some of these treasures:
pin48741th200

pin42270th200
#42270, Halloween Party
pin42269th200
#42269, Stitch Candy Corn Jumbo. This one is much more impressive in person.

Halloween is our favorite holiday also. Before moving from Portland, we often turned our front yard into a full on graveyard -- kids from all around would come to see it.
I always refer to this pin (Runaway Brain Mickey) as "Mickey on Crack"!

Some of the Halloween Mickey Heads are fun.

I had NO IDEA there were that many Halloween Mickey head pins, that's a great collection!

Seems to be a Stitch theme. I love many of the DA100 pins of Stitch, but here are two lower-level pins that I find really cute. Every time I see them, I want to trade for them but I have to remind myself that I already have them!

Thank you!

I see that you collect Black Cauldron. Have you see these yet?
pin72291th200
#72291, The Black Cauldron 25th Anniversary Pin Set - Creeper Only

The detailing of the art is wonderful. I'm still trying to convince myself that it belongs to my Halloween collection.

pin72293th200
#72293, The Black Cauldron 25th Anniversary Pin Set - The Horned King with Gwythaints Only is another great pin. Pinpics picture does not do it true justice.

Yes, I have both of those, they are pretty big, nice sized pins. Black Cauldron is one of my main collections and I am only missing 2 pins, unless you count the new wdi Gurgi pin that hasn't been released yet. I'll have to post some pix of some of the nicer ones.

Tough question! There are SO MANY PRETTY PINS.

Here are some sets I love the look of.

The graphic novel series...

The masterpiece series...

The Beloved Tales series:

Elizabeth Gomes pins:

Some other beautiful sets...

And The Kiss Series: (I own these and they are GORGEOUS in person!)

I agree that the Princess Carousel Horse set (#23948, 23950, 23951, 23953 -23955) are lovely. Disney Auctions produced hard enamel pins with rich color and attention to detail.

As a number of you like the comics-style. How about this:
This 1000LE set depicts Mickey trying to serenade his sweetheart Minnie Mouse. The neighborhood animals want to join in which causes Mickey a little embarrassment. Released from the Disneyland Resort, the 6-pin framed set was inspired by the 'Sunday funnies', which debuted on Sunday January 13, 1930. Two years later it became a weekly page and ran for the next 30 years.

Cant show a bunch of Halloween pins and not have the king. NBC pins rock!!

Then I'm sure you have zeroed (pardon the pun. :naughty:) on these ones
pin93146th200
93146 DLR - NBC 'What's This' Series Jumbo - Jack Skellington & Oogie Boogie. I've seen this one in person. The art is on the edgy, graphic side. Some of the best that I have seen for Jack!
pin93182th200
93182 Halloween 2012 - Jumbo Pin - Jack Skellington. Again great attention to details and rich colors.
Both should be a MUST for NBC collectors IMHO.

pin50259th200

Pin 50259 - DLRP - Halloween 2006 - Donald and Goofy as Captain Hook and Mr. Smee

I got this pin recently and pictures just don't do it justice. The colours are absolutely incredible. I really love this one! It's now my favourite in my collection.

I also love these two and would love to add them to my collection some day:

Paris always does a smashing job on their pins; even their booster pins are lovely!

This one is so much better in person. The flames are iridescent

pin25433th200

25433 DLRP - Halloween 2003 (Maleficent) Glitters

The following four were a part of Halloween starter lanyard packages.
pin25434th200

25434 DLRP - Halloween 2003 (Mickey) and
pin25435th200

25435, DLRP - Halloween 2003 (Goofy)

pin42219th200

42219 DLRP - Halloween - Pin Trading Starter Set (Devil Stitch in Pumpkin)
pin42293th200

42293 DLRP - Halloween - Pin Trading Starter Set (Stitch Biting Trick or Treat Pumpkin)

And this pin is just flat GORGEOUS with it's pin-on-pin and glitter features. This is a great picture, but, definitely breathtaking in person.
pin50223th200

50223 DLRP - Halloween 2006 - Stitch as Chernabog

Speaking again of Paris's starter/booster pins - This picture does such injustice to this pin! I was so taken with the delightful facial detailing on Tinkers face that I added her to my collection. Even though, she has nothing to do with my collection (be quiet -- it was a moment of weakness -- OK!)

54932 DLRP - Tinker Bell 2007 Starter Set (Lanyard & 4 Pins) Dancing Tink.

 Nothing wrong with a moment of weakness. That Tinker pin is really lovely. And those Halloween pins...well, that's another 6 for my 'wants' list!

Being Bad

Being Bad is an open edition group. I like the first three. Of course, Maleficent plays into my theme collection. Jafar is dynamic with his rich red and Chernabog has the vibrant orange. However, I was not to impressed with Hades. I don't care for the design, as it's hard to make him out, even in person. Some members have created some lovely frames with these four.

28575 Being Bad (Maleficent)

28580 Being Bad (Jafar)

28581 Being Bad (Chernabog)

28582 Being Bad (Hades)
