My Stitch pins need a new home. Frankly, I have never seen the movie and just don't understand the appeal. Shocking, I know! Anyway, it's time they went to their forever homes. The first pin stands alone because it is one of the only Stitch pins I think is cute and needs no other pins to entice potential adopters.

All you need to do is post your favorite visual artist or painting/piece in the thread and I will do the randomizer thing at the end. There is no right or wrong answer here. Everyone who posts gets a shot. I'll start off the discussion (and discussion is encouraged) by saying that my favorite painting is "Paris Street, Rainy Day" by Gustave Caillebotte. It was not a critical success, but it really effects me for some reason. It hangs in the Art Institute of Chicago and I hope to see it in person someday.

We have a framed print of Claude Monet's Water Lily Pond (also sometimes called Japanese Bridge) hanging in our home. Of course, as far as art goes, out tastes are quite eclectic. We also have framed prints of MC Escher's Relativity and his Hand with Reflecting Sphere hanging in the house... ;-)
 
I really like Escher's stuff. I also love Kelly Vivanco and Caia Koopman. I would hang a Thomas Hart Benton in any room of my house.

I'm really into SHAG! I'm sure you've seen his art for Disney: Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, etc. But he primarily does art for the tiki/retro scene.

Not just saying this because he created Stitch, but one of my favorites is Chris Sanders! Has anyone ever seen his Deviantart? His work is so unique and I love the way he draws people! He shows so much expression in his work and it really is amazing. He is also the creator of Toothless! Did anybody know that?

I also adore Glen Keane of course but someone said that so I didn't want to repeat and Mark Henn! I'm all about those Disney artists as I dream to become one! Thanks!
 
I'm going to have to go with Mark Buckingham, not just because I love Fables... but also because I've met him and he's unbelievably nice
 
I am a Thomas Kincaid fan! Love his stuff! I'm not sure what one I like most.. but I enjoy most art with animals. Not kill shots...but in the wild..
 
My favorite painting is the Sistine Chapel Ceiling by Michelangelo. I would love to see it in person and will probably cry if I am able to!

I also am a huge fan of Thomas Kincaid. I love his Disney works but also love his cottage scenes and Christmas paintings as well.
 
well i cant say that i have any one favorite piece of art work but i think if i had to single out one visual artist it would have to be Alex Pardee. he has a lot of very interesting pieces that im very drawn to good luck everyone

Mine is a new favorite! Fabian Oefner, he's an artist/photographer who uses science to capture gorgeous images. (Science can be beautiful!) I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this guy's career since he's doing exactly what I wanted to do myself. I would have to say my favorite series are:

millefiori (where he mixes paint with magnetic liquid)



Liquid jewel (where he pops balloons covered in paint)



and Nebula (where he took many photos of a fiber glass lamp he moved around during exposure and merged them all together)



They're just so pretty! You can view his TEDTalk here where he demonstrates some of what he does. And totally check out his website here for more images and information.

I want to try doing some stuff like this! I need to stop buying pins so I can afford a camera.... :facepalm:
