Greetings and Well Met from the Mythical Land of Oklahoma
I've been lurking on the forums for a month or two now, started posting here and there, and I thought it was about time I introduced myself.
I got into pins on my honeymoon in 2008. Didn't really know what I was doing. Just bought a couple of pins because I liked them. By the end of the trip, I found out that I could trade with cast members. Didn't do much of it, but I enjoyed it. The wife an I went to WDW again for our anniversary and I started trading a little more actively. We'll be going again in January with another couple with which I have shared my love for pin trading. We're pretty excited about it, to say the least.
I've never really done any trading outside of the parks with cast members. The only experience I've had with a "real" pin trader was not a happy one as they went out of their way to make me feel like an idiot (this was on my first trip, before I knew anything about it). I'm still a little intimidated by the prospect just because I don't really pay that much attention to the value or scarcity of a pin. I trade and collect because I enjoy it. I don't really have any grails... maybe I'll get their, but for now I'm staying pretty noobish.
My wife and I started collecting Disney couples on our first trip... so that's the majority of my collection. I also just get pins I like/characters I like. I've decided recently to start focusing a collection on Pete with perhaps a smaller focus on Oswald.
I enjoy seeing everyone's pins that they post on the forums, and I love hearing about those braving the long lines for LE pin releases. I would probably be one of them if they opened a Disney Soda Fountain in Oklahoma... yeah... not gonna happen.
I work in Higher Education and I independently published my first novel earlier this year. Outside of Disney, I'm into fantasy, strategy games, video games, reading, writing, and football.
Hopefully I'll lurk less and post more in the future. Looking forward to "meeting" everyone.
